REVIEW: Parkdean – Camber Sands. A Lockdown Staycation

Yes, we went on another Sun £9.50 holiday, and it was a good one. We tried Parkdean for the first time, and below you can see what I paid for three nights.

Yes, that’s £76.50 for three nights. Bargain right? It also seems like we had our accommodation upgraded for FREE! So that’s fantastic!

Day 1

Of course, we got stuck in traffic, and it took nearly 3 hours to get there (it should’ve been 2). Check-in was super fast, and we drove straight to our caravan. It was a little disappointing to see we couldn’t drive right up next to it like we did when we went to Haven. Also, there were no spaces by the time I arrived, so I had to park a little further away. Not ideal with luggage and a kid!

When we got into our accommodation, it wasn’t cleaned to my standard. I don’t think it had been cleaned at all. You should have a green sign telling you that it is clean and “safe” to enter your accommodation. We did not have that green sign. There were crumbs on the table and floor, but I just couldn’t be bothered to wait for someone to come, so I just cleaned it myself. A very disappointing start to the staycation.

What I will say is that our accommodation had pretty much everything we needed. A fridge, a freezer, microwave, cooker, cutlery, glasses, plates, a sink, sofa bed, three bedrooms, two toilets, a shower, a fireplace, a TV, a dining table, chairs, an iron and an ironing board.

We went to the Nisa local on-site, and it’s suitable for a few essentials, but you can’t get everything in there, so you have a few options. Get your bits and pieces delivered. I saw someone getting a Sainsbury’s delivery. Bring all your food/essentials with you, or you can check out the nearest supermarkets.

  • The nearest Aldi is a 30 minute drive away
  • The nearest Tesco is a 30 minute drive away
  • The nearest Sainsbury’s is a 20 minute drive away
  • The nearest Waitrose is a 30 minute drive away
  • The nearest M&S is a 30 minute drive away

Little miss spent a few minutes in the playground one our first day. It’s like any other playground you will see—nothing special to mention about that. I did like the fact they also have outdoor water play, but it was not on at the time. I presume it will be on when it’s a bit warmer.

Camber Sands has a beautiful Sandy beach, and it’s right opposite the holiday park. I highly recommend doing what we did and go there just before the sunset. It was a beautiful sight.

Day 2

We started day two by doing an activity called “active tots” below is the description and the price.

The kids did none of that. Instead, they did a short obstacle course and played with hoops and bean bags. Did the kids have fun? Yes, but that’s not what I paid for. A little disappointing but the activity leader was great with the kids!

We went back down to the beach and had a great time. Built some sandcastles, collected some shells and also played with our brand new frisbee.

I booked something called “Krew Appearances” thinking it was some sort of show. It’s the quickest meet and greet ever. I would not recommend lol. Not long after that, we had Aqua Paddlers. Little miss LOVED this activity. There were staff-led games and time for the kids to play freely. The activity leader was the same guy we had for the active tots session, and he was great with the kids. £6.50 well spent!

Day 3

I paid for three night, but we could only stay two because education comes first 🙄😂 we had two activities booked. Cricket and swimming and they’re both FREE!

What Parkdean has to offer:

  • Indoor swimming pool
  • Outdoor splash pad
  • Mini golf
  • Playgrounds
  • High ropes
  • Arcade (reopens May 17th)
  • Arts and crafts
  • Sports

And more.

Know before you go.

  • You can book activities 2 weeks before you are due to arrive. Some activities are paid and the rest are free. This will be made clear at the time of booking.
  • Swimming changing rooms are closed. You will have to arrive in your swimwear and leave in it too
  • If you’re staying at Parkdean the you shouldn’t really have to worry about this but there’s a car park at the beach that’s £12 for the day. Check out the Parkopedia for more info.
  • The nearest train station is Rye. It’s about a 15 minute taxi ride from there. You can also take the Stagecoach 102 bus. Check out Google maps or similar apps for a more detailed plan.

What’s nearby?

I’m sure there is more but these are the ones I would personally recommend:)

Would we go back?

As crazy as it may sound, yes, I totally would. We did have an unclean accommodation; we did have a few mishaps, but I do think it was a good staycation. We also really love the beach, and we can’t wait to go back.
