REVIEW: Walton-on-the-Naze Beach Hut

AD|Press trip

Yesterday we spent the day at our favourite beach, which is Walton on the Naze. I love this beach for many different reasons. I think the main one is that it’s never busy. There are, of course other families there, but I’ve never seen it get as busy as Southend or Brighton.

Thanks to Walton on the Naze beach hut, we got the opportunity to stay in a beach hut for the first time, and wow, we absolutely loved it, and it’s something we are going to do again.

I was pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the beach hut. The inside was beautifully decorated, clean and it’s very close to the beach. We had pretty much everything we needed for our little trip.

Little Miss was pleased to see all the toys available. I did bring her beach toys, but it was nice to see that they also provided us with some. There were also colouring pencils, crayons, books and some card games too. Also, inside the hut, we had deckchairs, a table and a small kitchen full of glasses, mugs and tea and coffee making facilities.

I did a little bit more exploring inside the hut and found that there were even nappies, sunscreen and even water aids. They really have thought about everything a family would need for a beach trip. I can’t praise it enough. It’s also only £50 a day and I think that’s a great price!

Price: £50 a day

How to book the hut:

Email them at seaside.walton@gmail.com or send them a DM on IG.

Opening times: 9am – 6pm

So now to the question that I have been asked on Instagram.

Are there toilets?

Not inside the beach hut, but there are toilets nearby. I have to be honest and say they’re not the cleanest but that is to be expected. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a clean beach public toilet lol. I would suggest brining a potty for the little ones.

Is there electricity?

There is no electricity which I think is a good thing as it’s not the kind of place where you want to watch TV, iPads or anything like that. I think you’ll probably spend more time enjoying the Sandy beach. If you need electricity to charge your phone then I would suggest investing in a power bank. You can get them on eBay, Argos and even Primark.

Does it have a sink?

Yes, it does have a sink, but there is no plumbing, so you will have to empty it once you have finished your stay at the hut. There is a tap a very short walk away, so you can fill it up and drain it out there.

Did I see you had a Veranda?

Yes that is correct. Not every beach hut has one so I thought it was quite special. If you wanted to chill away from the beach, you can do it there. That what we did for a bit. We brought out the deckchairs from inside the hut and chilled outside for a bit. It made us feel like we were abroad 😆

What else is there to do in the area?

Well, there is a pier, but unfortunately, it’s closed, but I’m pretty sure it will be open sometime in May. You can walk down to the beach and enjoy the beautiful sand and collect some gorgeous shells.

There are plenty of places we you can grab some food like fish and chips, doughnuts and ice cream. Please note that most of these places are accepting cash only, so make sure you do you have money on you. If you don’t, there is a Co-op nearby that does have a cash machine. If you’re like me and you forgot you buy some water then you’ll be happy to know that there is also a Tesco, Lidl and M&S around too.

A little further away from the beach hut on Hall lane, you can find a playground which I’m sure most kids would love.

How did you get there?

I did want to get the train as I didn’t fancy driving but it just felt like too many changes for me so I did decide drive. It was just under 2 hours from South West London. I parked at Church Road car park. It’s £6 for the day which is pretty decent. The nearest train station is Walton-on-the-Naze and it’s a very short walk to the beach hut from there.

Here is some other info you might find useful.

  • Colchester Zoo is under an hour away. You could potentially do both in a day.
  • If you fancy having a staycation then check out Parkdean Naze Marine Holiday Park. I think we’re going to book that next!
  • Hasty’s Adventure farm is about a 25 minute drive away.
  • Check out this website for tide times so you can plan your day at the beach.
