Exploring Bristol

Bristol is a wonderful city for families! I mean it when I say there are plenty of family activities. I’m going to start with the things we did then tell you all about the other things you can do.

Aerospace Bristol

📍 Hayes Way, Patchway, Bristol BS34 5BZ

What can I do there?

Aerospace Bristol is an aerospace museum in Filton. You can step back in time and learn about aviation history with the cool interactive exhibits and more! You don’t even have to be super into aerospace to enjoy this day out! If you love a fun and educational day out then this is definitely place to take your family. The staff were very friendly and were happy to answer any questions we had!

The playground and the cafe are fab and of course a special mention to the amazing Concorde! You can even go inside. I’m sure it will be the highlight of your visit!

How much are tickets?

Tickets start from £9.50 and under 4s go FREE.

Are their any discounts?

Unfortunately I couldn’t find any but your tickets do allow FREE return visits to Aerospace Bristol for one year from the day they are first used.

How far is it from Beech House?

From Beech House it’s around 20 minutes by car and around 1 hour on a bus. I recommended downloading an app like city mapper to plan your day.

Bristol Aquarium

📍 Anchor Rd, Bristol BS1 5TT

What can I do there?

Check out the amazing sea life of course! It’s a lovely place to take the kids! Especially the under 5s. It was great to walk around and read so many interesting facts about the fish. I can honestly say we learnt quite a bit during our visit. Despite it being a little small compared to the other aquariums we’ve been to, it didn’t feel overcrowded at all. It was nice to see people still keeping their distance.

Make sure you make a note of the feeding times as they’re always so exciting to see!

There’s a reasonable priced cafe and gift shop at the end and it’s seconds away from ‘We The Curious’ which I’m going to talk about next.

We The Curious

What can I do there?

I can officially say this is the best day out we’ve ever had! Don’t be like us and spend only 2 hours there! You need a full day here to really explore! You will have the BEST time! The best thing about this place is that it’s fun for both adults and kids!

The ‘We The Curious’ mission is to “build a culture of curiosity where everyone can ask questions, explore and test ideas out together.”

The exhibits are all interactive and it was so nice to be at a place where everything actually works! We were playing with huge bubbles, we checked out a 3D model of the human body and little miss got the chance to see what it’s like being a bee.

My favourite part of our visit was exploring whether or not we have souls. It was so interesting and something I have never really thought about! This is truly a brilliant experience!

You can check out the amazing animals. There are Flamingos, Penguins, Bats, Gorillas, Seals and so much more! If it’s a hot day then definitely check out the children’s water play area. For the older kids, you might want to check out their high ropes. It’s called “ZooRopia” (love the name 😆) and it’s a separate charge from the admission price. Prices start from £6.90 and it’s suitable for 5+

There are plenty of places where you can grab a bite to eat. It’s a really lovely day out. There’s something for all the family at Bristol Zoo.

Little miss said her highlight of our visit was seeing the Gorillas and I have to agree with her! They are beautiful creatures. We even got to see the little babies and they’re just the cutest things ever!
