REVIEW: Barleylands Farm Park

AD|Press trip.

Barleylands Farm Park is a farm in Essex, and we got the chance to check it out for a review. It’s a beautiful farm and one that is full of the cutest animals!

Address: Barleylands Farm Park & Craft Village
Barleylands Road
Billericay
Essex
CM11 2UD

Parking is completely free. The nearest Train Stations are Billericay and Basildon, which are equal distances from Barleylands. You can take the number 100 bus (from both stations), which stops outside Barleylands.

Price: £12.50 for adults and kids 2+. Under 2s are only £2. All the activities are included in the price except the Farm-ula 1 ride, which is £2 for up to two passengers per vehicle. The Barleylands Speedway is £1. Make sure you have some cash on you.

Did we enjoy the day?

We most certainly did! When we arrived, there were little tractors lined up for the kids to pick and ride around the farm. Not something I’ve seen before on a farm. Kids usually have to stick to one area and ride tractors around a little track. I thought it was such a nice touch!

Upon arrival, we were given a bag of animal feed. This will cost you £1. You can purchase it on the day or at the time of booking. Feeding the animals is always so much fun. Little miss says she likes the tickle feeling! You will also be given a sheet with a map of the farm and details about the different shows and activities they have on.

We love feeding goats.

There are plenty of animals at Barleylands Farm Park. Goats, Meerkats, Ducks, Pigs and more! You can’t feed all the animals, and there are signs showing you which ones not to feed. There are plenty of handwashing facilities dotted around, so make sure you keep safe and use them!

The indoor play area is shut for now. It should hopefully reopen in May. There’s still plenty to do. You can check out the jumping pillow, the big tractor ride, the zip wire and more. There is plenty of fun to be had at Barleylands Farm Park.

The highlight of the day was meeting the baby chicks and ducks. They are just beyond cute. Little miss loved the little ducklings and spent a lot of our time there gently petting them. It’s an adorable opportunity.

Other information you might find useful.

  • Toilets are open and baby changing facilities are available. There are different toilets around the farm so I didn’t get to check them all our. The one we did check out was inside the barn with the goats and it was very clean!
  • I didn’t get the chance to see what they had but they do sell food and drink.
  • There are more than enough places to sit and eat food. You can always bring a picnic blanket
  • The barrel ride is for kids 6+ and weekends and school holidays only.
  • The farm is open everyday from 10am. March – October it closes at 5pm. November – February it closes at 4pm
  • You can go camping here. Find out more info here.

I think there are more than enough activities to keep your little ones entertained here. I also think £12.50 is a great and reasonable price.

The staff are very friendly and happy to answer any questions you may have. Friendly staff play a big role in days out. Not just for the parents but for the kids too. It’s really nice to see them interact with the kids and listen and respond to what they have to say. We really did have a good time and we will definitely be back. Little miss can’t wait to check out the indoor play area!
