REVIEW: Holiday Inn London – Kensington High St.

I think this has to be one of the best hotels we have stayed at. The staff went above and beyond for a little miss, and she was so happy! I decided to book this little staycation when we went into the tier 2 nonsense as it meant we couldn’t spend Halloween with friends and family.

Address.

Wrights Lane, Kensington and Chelsea, London, W8 5SP, United Kingdom.

Reasons why I picked this hotel:

  • We only live a bus ride away.
  • It has a pool.
  • Booking.com gave us free cancellation up until two days before our visit, and no prepayment was needed.
  • It’s close to Kidzania (where we went at the start of the day)
  • It’s close to other cool attractions that I will list below.
  • Check out is at noon 🙂
  • Kids stay and eat for FREE.

How much?

Price all depends on several things. I paid £73.80 on Booking.com for just one adult and one child. I then found it almost £10 cheaper on uk.hotels.com. Booking.com price match and you can claim a refund for the difference if you find your reservation cheaper on another website.

I also had to pay a £50 refundable deposit upon arrival.

The room.

I just loved it! They put us on the 8th floor (we love a room with a view) and it was just the best. The room was clean, spacious and had everything thing we needed.

  • A bath and a shower
  • A fridge
  • Tea and coffee making facilities
  • Free WiFi
  • A TV
  • Hairdryer
  • Two very comfortable chairs
  • A very comfortable double bed.

It was lovely to come to our room and see a little surprise for little miss. An adorable Holiday inn teddy bear, a selection of fruits and some Halloween treats! She was pleased!

Food.

Kids stay and eat for free, so this is one of the things that made me want to book! Kids ages 17 and under stay for free when sharing their parents’ room.  Up to four kids ages 12 and under eat free any time of the day in any Holiday Inn® on-site restaurant. Dinner and breakfast were fantastic!

Dinner – There’s a lot to choose from on the menu that you can access using a QR code. I went for the classic burger, and little miss went for a Margarita pizza with garlic bread and then ice cream for dessert. I think the menu is reasonably priced.

Breakfast – if you’ve read our previous staycation posts then you know how much we dislike the grab and go style of breakfast. It was nice to have the option to choose between having an assisted buffet (the staff get what you want) or the grab and go style breakfast. We, of course, chose the assisted buffet. The staff were so lovely and quick!

The pool.

The pool is 18 metres and indoors. The entry fee Is £5pp with kids going free. As far as I’m aware, you don’t need to book the pool, but it’s a good idea to call them from your room to check if it’s busy. The pool was lovely and warm, and the changing rooms were spotless! I liked that they had a specific area for kids to get change.

What’s nearby?

  • Kensington Palace
  • Kensington High street
  • Holland Park
  • Kidzania/Westfield London Shopping centre.
  • Design museum
  • Science museum
  • Natural history museum
  • V&A museum
  • Royal Albert Hall
  • Biscuiteers Notting Hill

Would we go back?

Yes! I loved how family-friendly this hotel is. During our stay, little miss received three different activity packs. One at check-in, one at dinner and another at breakfast. They did all they could to make her feel special, and she loved it. She even said it was the best hotel ever! The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating!

If we were not going into another lockdown, I would’ve booked another stay straight away. Loved every moment of our staycation. I can’t wait for things to go back to normal!
