REVIEW: Our first time at Whipsnade zoo

AD|Press trip.

Today we had the pleasure of visiting Whipsnade Zoo the first time! We were excited as they have Elephants, and we adore them! Before I talk about how fantastic our day was, let’s get the important information out of the way.

Address: Whipsnade, Dunstable LU6 2LF

Price: Tickets are from £16.54

Tickets: you can book here.

Important info if you’re are travelling by car:

Taken directly from the website.

ZSL Whipsnade Zoo covers a large area, vehicles are permitted within the grounds at an additional cost. Please note ZSL Whipsnade Zoo is not a safari park.

When visiting ZSL Whipsnade Zoo by car there are two options:

* You may park in our free external car park and walk around the Zoo

* You may drive into the Zoo and park in specified areas around the Zoo.

Whipsnade is enormous, so I would highly recommend paying for the car entry with kids just to avoid complaints about walking! The kids did quite well today though. Honestly even I’m tired from all the walking, but it was a fun day out.

Whipsnade is home to many different animals, including Elephants, Giraffes, Penguins and more! Unfortunately, we didn’t get the chance to see the Elephants (we love them so much) but that just means we will have to visit again 🙂

I have to say that my favourite part of the day was checking out the Penguins. They are just the cutest animals ever! I do love the way they waddle!

There’s a cool Halloween trail available until November 1st 2020 so you might want to check that out if you plan to visit soon!

Here’s what little miss thought about our day out:

I liked seeing the butterflies. The first butterfly we saw was big and blue and beautiful. I wish I could’ve taken a picture, but it flew away. Did you know that cocoon and chrysalis are similar? We talked about that at school when we read “The Very Hungry Caterpillar.”

What was your favourite animal of the day?

My favourite animal was the Lemurs. I liked it when I could see its tail wiggling around. And also my other favourite animals were the Chimps. They kept showing us their bums 😂

COVID precautions.

The staff did very well at managing long queues. We had to queue up quite a while to see the Lions, the Penguins and the Butterfly’s/Aquarium.

There are signs telling you where you need to wear a mask.

Like I said before, it’s a vast place so it should be easy for you to keep your distance from other families.

There is hand sanitiser dotted around the zoo.

Would we go again?

Yes! Whipsnade is lovely, and unfortunately, we didn’t get to see everything we would’ve liked. Christmas is around the corner, so I think maybe we will visit again to see what it’s like during the festive period.
