Harry Potter Shop Oxford Street: our first look, food prices, Hogwarts Bear Ceremony and more!

We visited the new Harry Potter Shop on Oxford Street one day before its public opening, and we had so much fun! As a huge Harry Potter fan, I was very excited to see what was inside, and there is plenty to get excited about.

There’s a huge dragon, a Knight Bus photo opportunity, shelves of wizarding sweets and a Leaky Cauldron food and drink area. You can also take part in a Hogwarts Bear Ceremony and follow a Gringotts adventure around the shop.

If you’re planning a visit, here’s what to expect, how to get there and the prices I photographed so you can work out your budget beforehand.

Prices below were displayed during our preview visit on 3 November 2026. Products, menus and prices may change.

Where is the new Harry Potter shop in London?

The shop is at The Ribbon, 134 to 140 Oxford Street, London, W1D 1LZ.

Tottenham Court Road is the nearest station, served by the Central, Northern and Elizabeth lines.

The official opening date is Wednesday 4 November 2026. The flagship covers around 21,000 square feet across two floors and is officially the UK’s largest official Harry Potter shop.

What is inside Harry Potter Shop Oxford Street?

The shop takes its inspiration from Diagon Alley, with themed displays and lots of little details to look at as you explore.

The Gringotts area is particularly impressive. There’s a huge Ukrainian Ironbelly dragon surrounded by broken stonework, with vault numbered merchandise displays nearby. Even the tills fit the banking theme, with dark counters, brass details and a row of glowing globe lights.

Elsewhere, we spotted Hogwarts clothing, Sorting Hats, trunks, soft toys, mugs, stationery, pins, keyrings and plenty of sweets. There were also festive displays during our preview, including Diagon Alley snow globes, a 520 piece puzzle and Christmas gifts.

It’s the sort of place where you’ll want to take your time looking around, especially if you love spotting references to the books and films.

Harry Potter photo opportunities

Make sure you have some space on your phone! The main photo spots include the Ukrainian Ironbelly dragon in the Gringotts area and the full sized purple Knight Bus installation.

The themed counters, vault displays and colourful sweet shelves also make lovely backdrops for photos of your visit. I loved how much there was to look at beyond the products themselves.

The Sorting Hat experience: Hogwarts Bear Ceremony

If you’ve seen my stories about the sorting experience, its official name is the Hogwarts Bear Ceremony. It’s exclusive to the Oxford Street shop, and it was such a lovely part of our visit.

You choose qualities for your bear before a ceremony reveals its Hogwarts house. You then have a new companion to take home.

The experience is priced from £75 per bear. The listed package includes:

  • Hogwarts house bear
  • House robe
  • Shirt
  • House tie
  • House scarf
  • Collector’s box
  • Certificate

Optional accessories cost extra.

The ceremony takes approximately five to seven minutes and is on the first floor, opposite the Leaky Cauldron exit.

Advance booking is required, with availability shown up to seven days ahead. Reserving a timeslot is free; the £75 package is paid for after the experience. A free reservation does not mean the bear is free.

The official shop says this bear is only available through the ceremony and cannot be bought separately.

I would definitely look at booking this if you want an extra special keepsake. It was so cool to see the ceremony, and such a lovely experience.

What is the Gringotts Adventure?

The Gringotts Adventure gives you an activity to follow while exploring the shop.

You purchase a specially created Gringotts cheque book and receive a collectable Galleon, then look for stamping locations and complete activities around the store.

The adventure also continues at Harry Potter Shop King’s Cross, where you can collect a Sickle and add another stamp to your cheque book. This is £10.

The Leaky Cauldron at Harry Potter Shop London

You can stop for food and drinks at the Leaky Cauldron themed area, with savoury snacks, Harry Potter cakes, Butterbeer and coffee on the menu.

The food is part of the fun here. There are pizza pockets named after Howlers and acceptance letters, a Knight Bus biscuit and a Golden Snitch inspired cheesecake.

We also spotted Chocolate Frog mugs, Hogwarts clothing, Sorting Hats, Diagon Alley pins, keyrings and Christmas gifts. The Butterbeer plush was particularly cute!

Can you buy personalised Harry Potter gifts?

Yes. The official shop advertises personalisation for selected products, including house robes, trunks, notebooks and Hogwarts acceptance letters featuring your name and address.

Check the price and available options with staff before ordering.

Is Harry Potter Shop Oxford Street worth visiting with kids?

We had such a lovely time at the preview. Between the dragon, themed displays, photo opportunities and all the merchandise, there was plenty to keep us looking around. The Hogwarts Bear Ceremony was a particularly special part of the visit for us.

My advice would be to decide on a spending budget beforehand. Between sweets, Butterbeer, souvenirs and optional experiences, it would be very easy to spend more than planned!

We visited before the public opening, so our preview doesn’t show how busy a normal day will be. If the bear ceremony is something you really want to do, book your timeslot in advance and check the official shop page for the latest visitor information.

For Harry Potter fans planning things to do in London, this is a lovely new stop to add to the list. We had so much fun exploring it, and I’m very happy we now have this on Oxford Street!
