The Smart Way to Kill Time Before a Flight in Orlando (Better Than an Airport Lounge)
If you have ever come off a cruise early in the morning and then faced hours waiting around for a flight, you will know how draining that gap can be.
We got off our Disney Cruise at around 7:30am, but our flight back to the UK was not until 5:25pm. That is a long time to be stuck at the airport with luggage, especially with a child.
Instead of doing that, I found what might genuinely be one of the best travel hacks for Orlando.
Why We Booked a ResortPass at Sheraton Orlando Lake Buena Vista Resort
Rather than heading straight to the airport, I booked a day pass at Sheraton Orlando Lake Buena Vista Resort using ResortPass.
If you have not heard of it before, ResortPass is a website and app that lets you book access to hotel facilities without needing to stay overnight. Think pools, loungers, spas and more, all for a day rate.
The Sheraton Orlando Lake Buena Vista Resort is around 20 minutes from Orlando International Airport, which made it the perfect stop before our flight home.
How Much It Cost (And Why It’s Worth It)
The day pass at Sheraton Orlando Lake Buena Vista Resort cost just £22 for both me and my daughter, which I honestly thought was amazing value.
For that price, we had access to:
- Two outdoor swimming pools
- A water slide
- Hot tubs
- Sun loungers
- On site food and drinks
- Wi-Fi
We spent a couple of hours swimming, relaxing and just enjoying the sunshine instead of sitting in a busy airport.
Food, Drinks and Extra Costs
We also ordered food and drinks at the hotel while we were there.
We had flatbread pizza, quesadillas and drinks, which came to around £36 in total. Not bad at all for a proper, relaxed meal compared to airport prices.

The Biggest Bonus That Made It Even Better
One of the best parts of Sheraton Orlando Lake Buena Vista Resort was that they stored our luggage for us.
This meant we could properly relax, go in the pool and enjoy the time without dragging suitcases around or worrying about our belongings.
Once we were done, I simply booked a taxi straight to the airport, which made the whole experience really smooth.
Is This Better Than an Airport Lounge?
Honestly, yes. I would go as far as saying this was even better than an airport lounge.
Instead of sitting indoors watching the clock, we were outside in the sun, swimming, eating good food and actually enjoying the last few hours of our trip. It completely changed the end of our holiday and made it feel extended rather than cut short.
