1. LEGO Creativity Workshop – Beautiful Botanicals

For just £5 per child, the LEGO Store’s “Creativity Workshop – Beautiful Botanicals” lets kids aged 6–12 design and build their own butterfly garden, offering an affordable, hands‑on family activity this June; advance booking is required as spaces and supplies are limited. Book here.

2. Costa Del Croydon

Croydon’s much-loved urban beach is back and bigger than ever for summer 2025. From 1st–31st August, the rooftop at Centrale Shopping Centre transforms into Costa Del Croydon — a FREE, family-friendly seaside escape in the heart of the city. Enjoy new features like a toddler paddling pool, a shaded chill-out zone, and a wider range of food vendors, plus an expanded daily events programme packed with live music, games and more. 3. JW3 Beach

From 6 July to 31 August 2025, the JW3 Beach is back and open to all with no booking required. Located in the weatherproof Dorfman Piazza, this urban beach offers free summer fun whatever the weather, thanks to its retractable roof and sides. Open Sunday to Thursday (10am–8pm) and Fridays (10am–3pm), it’s the perfect spot for families to unwind, with a special seasonal menu available from the on-site café. 4. Bounce House

From 18–22 August, don’t miss the return of the popular Bounce House at Big Penny Social, featuring giant inflatables and an epic inflatable assault course. Held in the main Event Space, sessions last one hour and cost just £7 per child, with free entry for accompanying adults and babies under 6 months. The 10am session is reserved daily for under 3s, and an autism-friendly session will run at 2pm on Wednesday 20 August, with reduced lighting, no music, and a lower capacity to create a calmer environment. 5. Swan Pedalos

The Swan Pedalos are back for the 2025 season, offering a fun and unique way to explore Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Available on weekends, bank holidays, and during school holidays from April to September (weather permitting), these pedal-powered swans are perfect for a family day out. Located at Stratford Waterfront Pontoon next to the London Aquatics Centre, no booking is needed – just turn up and pay by card. 6. Ready Steady Sail!

Set sail on a fun-filled creative adventure at the National Maritime Museum on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 July. Ready Steady Sail! is a FREE, interactive experience where children aged 3+ can design and decorate their own cardboard boats, then climb aboard and explore a giant Ocean Map through a live walkabout performance. Sessions run at 10:30am, 12pm, 1:45pm, and 3:15pm, lasting around 30 minutes. Spaces are free but must be booked in advance. Expect paint, pens, and plenty of mess – so dress accordingly. 7. Festival of Stuff

14. Family film club Barbican

Head to the Barbican for the Family Film Club! Screenings start just after 11am with no ads, and before, during, and after the film, enjoy activity sheets, books, toys, and games in the café. Happening on Saturday mornings, tickets are £5 per person.

15. Family Sundays

Family Sundays at the Royal Opera House offer a fun and relaxed way to explore the world of opera and ballet. Enjoy bean bags and plenty of space while taking in live music, dance, and creative activities for all ages. Activities include informal performances by Royal Ballet dancers, Jette Parker Artists, and musicians, interactive workshops, live theatrecraft or stage combat demos, and upcycling activities led by the Opera House team. 16. FREE mini golf in Canary Wharf

Minigolf by Craig & Karl is open daily until Sunday, 5th October, from 12:00 to 18:00 (last entry at 17:45), operating on a first-come, first-served basis. In addition to regular hours, out-of-hours SEN sessions are available for families with children and young people who have additional learning needs. During these sessions, the course will have a limited number of participants, with no more than two groups using the space at any time. SEN session dates include Wednesday, 28th May (10:00-12:00), Saturday, 21st June (10:00-12:00), and Wednesday, 30th July (10:00-12:00). To book a slot, email arts+events@canarywharf.com.

17. Early Birds – Sensory Friendly Event at the Science Museum

Early Birds is a sensory-friendly event at the Science Museum London, designed for families who benefit from a quieter, calmer environment—ideal for those with autism or sensory processing differences. The next session takes place on Saturday 26 July 2025, from 8:00 to 11:00 am. Guests can explore select galleries, participate in engaging workshops, and relax in designated quiet areas. This free event requires advance booking and is suitable for children aged 4 to 15, with siblings welcome.

18. Young V&A Summer Festival

Celebrate summer with a weekend of free family fun at the Young V&A Summer Festival in Bethnal Green on 5–6 July 2025, from 11am–3pm each day. 19. Vauxhall Summer Screens –  FREE

Vauxhall Summer Screens 2025 is returning every Tuesday evening this July at Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens, London SE11 5HL – and it’s completely free! Now in its 12th year, this popular open-air cinema event promises feel-good films, tasty street food, and a relaxed summer atmosphere. The line-up includes family favourites like Aladdin (2019), Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, Mean Girls, and Sister Act II: Back in the Habit. Gates open at 6pm and films start at 7pm, so bring a blanket or hire a deckchair for £5 and enjoy a movie night under the stars in the heart of London. More info here.

Although I’ve yet to see it myself, I’ve caught glimpses of the TikToks featuring the views from 22 Bishopsgate. Don’t miss out on experiencing the jaw-dropping views of the city at London’s highest free viewing platform. You can book a slot here.

22. Richmond Park

I grew up around Richmond Park, and it’s always delightful to take a walk there in the summer, spotting the deer. It’s definitely worth grabbing your bikes or scooters and taking your kids there for a lovely day out. Why not pack a picnic blanket and snacks? Just remember to throw your rubbish away. 23. Pet’s At Home kids workshops

Every school holiday, Pets at Home hosts free workshops for kids where, depending on the store, kids can hold some of their animals like the rabbits. There are no current summer workshops available yet, but keep an eye on this page and book as soon as you see it available.

24. Apple Summer Camp

Once a year, the Apple Store hosts a free summer camp for kids aged 6-10. If you head to their website, you can register to be notified when their next summer camp starts so you can get your free tickets.

25. Kids Week

Not 100% free but worth mentioning! Kids Week is a special offer which is perfect for families with kids aged 17 and under. When accompanied by an adult paying full price, a child can attend for FREE!
And that’s not all! You can also bring up to two additional children along with the first child, and they’ll get in for half price! Mark your calendars for the Kids Week performances, which will take place from Monday 21 July – Sunday 31 August. Don’t miss out on this amazing opportunity to introduce your little ones to the magic of live theatre! 

26. Holland Park

Holland Park is without a doubt our favorite park in London. It boasts a fantastic playground with sand and water play features, the beautiful Japanese Kyoto Garden, gorgeous peacocks roaming freely, stunning flowers and plants, and even a spot to play life-sized chess. 32. The Royal Airforce Museum

There are some free and affordable activities at the Royal Air Force Museum this half term. Entry to the museum is always free, so be sure to check out their website for more information.

33. Open The Disney Store

Unfortunately, there’s only one Disney store left in London. However, here’s something cool you can check out: did you know that every morning, the Disney store starts its day in a super magical way? The lucky first person in line gets to use a giant key to open the store and even receives a smaller version of the key to keep! Unfortunately, you can’t pre-book this experience. 34. Summer By The River Movies

37. London Fire Brigade’s Events & Open Days

London Fire Brigade invites families to its free Fire Station Open Days and events this summer—perfect for kids and curious minds! 40. Fun DMC 10th Birthday

Celebrate the end of summer in style at the FUN DMC 10th Birthday party on Monday 25 August 2025 at Southbank Centre’s Riverside Terrace. This free, family-friendly block party features feel-good tunes from DJ Spin Doctor—spinning disco, garage, hip-hop and R&B—plus dance sessions and a live beatbox workshop. 47. The Ugly Duckling

Sea Legs Puppet Theatre’s The Ugly Duckling at the Lyric Theatre in Hammersmith on 5th July 2025 is a captivating musical puppet show perfect for children aged 3 and up. This enchanting adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen’s classic tale explores themes of belonging and identity through vibrant storytelling, delightful puppetry, and an engaging musical score. 48. Windrush Celebration Collage Family Workshop

The Windrush Celebration Collage Family Workshop takes place on 29th June 2025 at Stanley Arts Centre, offering two sessions from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm and 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Led by local artist Yvadney Davis, this engaging workshop invites families of all ages to explore collage as a powerful form of storytelling and celebration inspired by the Windrush Generation. 50. Discovery Day

Discovery Day at The Francis Crick Institute on 21 June 2025 offers a full day of exciting pop-up science activities perfect for kids aged 6–11. From 11:00 to 16:00, families can enjoy outdoor challenges like the super signallers, creating stem cell potions, and discovering immune cell superpowers. Inside, timed slots allow visitors to interview scientists, explore lab life, and catch a live science magic show in the Wellcome auditorium. No pre-booking is required for indoor slots, which run in three sessions throughout the day. The event also features a relaxed opening for neurodivergent visitors and those with sensory needs, offering a calmer experience earlier in the morning (currently sold out). From 30 July to 21 August 2025, the Royal Parks Summer Nature Roadshows invite families, nature lovers, and young environmentalists to enjoy a variety of free, drop-in activities from 11am to 3pm. Held across Bushy Park, Greenwich Park, Kensington Gardens, Richmond Park, St. James’s Park, The Green Park, and The Regent’s Park & Primrose Hill, these interactive sessions include nature-themed detective trails, mini museums of fascinating specimens, wild crafts, games, and habitat safaris. 53. Kids play FREE at Draughts 

Okay, it’s not entirely free for adults, but I wanted to share this fantastic option. Visit Draughts in Waterloo or Hackney for a great board gaming cafe experience. Children under 12 play for free, and 13-17-year-olds play at half price. More details can be found here.

54.  Hampton Court Garden open days

From 1 to 6 July 2025, visitors can enjoy the world-famous gardens of Hampton Court Palace completely free of charge. Wander through acres of stunning formal gardens, peaceful courtyards, and expansive parklands that have enchanted royalty for centuries. 55. Relaxed Mondays and The Cartoon Museum 

The Cartoon Museum’s Relaxed Monday events return on select dates in 2025 (26 May, 28 July, 4 August, 25 August, and 27 October), offering a calm and supportive environment for children and young people aged 5–25 with autism spectrum conditions or sensory processing differences. These free sessions, held in a quieter museum setting, include drop-in cartoon workshops with resident cartoonist Steve Marchant, a self-led museum trail, and the chance to explore at your own pace. 56. Family Workshop: Magnificent Marble Run

The Magnificent Marble Run family workshop returns to Headstone Manor on Sunday 15 June 2025, with sessions at 11:00 am and 1:15 pm. Perfect for children aged 5 and up (with accompanying adults), this creative junk-modelling experience invites participants to construct large-scale, kinetic marble run toys from recycled materials using scissors, wire, knitting needles, and hot glue—so bring a bag to carry your masterpiece home! 66. Serpentine and the LEGO Group present Play Pavilion

76. AHOY! Children’s Gallery
