This is your sign to get your kids a Blue Peter badge card! We had the best day out recently at the Roald Dahl Children’s Gallery in Aylesbury — part of the Discover Bucks Museum — and my daughter got in completely FREE with her badge card. It’s such an interactive, hands-on space, packed with science-inspired fun themed around Roald Dahl’s beloved stories. There’s actually loads more to see at Discover Bucks Museum, from local history and archaeology to wildlife exhibits, but honestly, my daughter was so into the gallery that we spent most of our time there — and loved every second.
We’re always looking for budget-friendly days out from London, and this one ticks all the boxes. It’s about an hour’s drive from Hammersmith, or just 58 minutes by train from London Marylebone, followed by a short 10-minute walk from Aylesbury Station. Parking’s easy too — we used Friarscroft Car Park which is just £3.35 for the whole day.

Tickets are really reasonable: £7.70 for adults, £5 for kids aged 3–15, under 3s go free, and they offer family tickets too — £22.70 for 4 people or £27.25 for 5. But the best bit? It’s completely free for Blue Peter badge card holders, which is such a great little perk if your child has one. If they don’t, it’s totally worth applying for — they’ll love it and it opens the door to so many cool places.
It’s also really close to the Roald Dahl Museum in Great Missenden, which we visited recently too — just a short drive or a couple of train stops away. You could easily do both in a day if your kids are big Roald Dahl fans like mine.
Honestly, it was such a fab day out and one I’d absolutely recommend. Send this to a fellow parent who needs to know about this little gem — especially if they’ve got a Blue Peter badge hiding in a drawer somewhere!
