Are Kids Clubs on Family Holidays Safe? My Experience Around the World

When planning family holidays, finding ways to keep kids entertained while parents get some downtime is essential for me. Kids’ clubs abroad often strike the perfect balance, and over the years, I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing them at RIU Ocho Rios, Magic Robin Hood Resort, Venus Beach Hotel, Disney Cruise Line, and AX Odycy Malta. Each time, my daughter absolutely loved the experience, begging to return daily.

One of the biggest factors in my decision to use a kids’ club is safety. Every club we visited had a structured sign-in and sign-out process, and a couple even included password systems for added security. Knowing that my child couldn’t leave the club unless authorised provided me with peace of mind and made it easier to enjoy the holiday myself. The Disney Cruise experience stood out for its exceptional security measures, where kids used a magic band for access and required a password shared by the parents for sign-out.

At RIU Ocho Rios, the kids’ club offered a laid-back, welcoming environment. My daughter quickly made friends and enjoyed the variety of activities. At Magic Robin Hood Resort, the medieval-themed setting added excitement, with creative games and events that kept her engaged for hours. Venus Beach Hotel’s kids’ club felt more intimate, which was ideal for children who might prefer smaller group settings. AX Odycy Malta provided a lovely mix of fun and culture, incorporating creative activities that reflected the charm of the destination.

While I understand why some parents might feel apprehensive about kids’ clubs, I believe they can be an amazing opportunity for children to develop independence, make friends from different cultures, and engage in unique experiences. For me, it’s important to ensure my child is fully capable of communicating her needs and has an awareness of personal safety before using these services. If a kids’ club didn’t feel safe or didn’t align with these values, I wouldn’t consider it.

The Disney Cruise Line kids’ club, in particular, set the bar for safety and fun. Alongside the high-tech security measures, the immersive activities ensured my daughter was entertained and excited to return each day. It was a standout experience, combining safety and enjoyment effortlessly.

Kids’ clubs abroad are an excellent addition to family holidays when chosen thoughtfully. They allow children to thrive in a safe environment, make new friends, and embrace adventure, giving parents a chance to relax. By researching each club’s safety protocols and activities, families can enjoy the best of both worlds, making holidays memorable for everyone.
