If you’re new to Madame Tussaud’s and considering a visit, here’s my honest take. Madame Tussaud’s is a well-known museum chain featuring life-size wax figures of celebrities and historical icons in various themed galleries. But unless you’re a huge fan of wax figures or celebrity culture, you might find the experience underwhelming.
We’ve visited a couple of times, with our most recent visit being today. There are always a few new additions to the collection, and you can expect to see popular figures like Ed Sheeran, Stormzy, Harry and Meghan, ET, and more. Be prepared for crowds, though; even on a weekday, there were small queues to get photos with the more popular wax figures. Another thing to note is the constant push from staff members selling overpriced photos, which I found quite annoying. I get that it’s their job, but it does take away from the experience a bit.
One of the main attractions at Madame Tussaud’s is the Chamber of Horrors, a spooky walkthrough that isn’t recommended for anyone under 16. We chose to skip this part, so I can’t share too much about it. Instead, we headed straight to the Spirit of London taxi ride, which I genuinely think is the best part of the whole place. It’s a fun and creative way to learn about London’s history, and it has a unique charm that stands out from the rest of the museum.
Further along, you’ll encounter sections featuring Marvel characters and interactive experiences. There’s also a 4D Marvel cinema, but honestly, I didn’t find it particularly impressive. Finally, before you exit, you’ll walk through the Star Wars area and, of course, the gift shop, which is as overpriced as you’d expect.
In my opinion, Madame Tussaud’s might be worth a one-time visit if you’ve never been, just to see what it’s all about. But I wouldn’t be in a hurry to go back. We booked our tickets through GetYourGuide, a fantastic app and website for discovering family-friendly activities. If you do decide to visit, it’s a convenient option for booking your tickets.
