We took Flixbus to Disneyland Paris once again, but it’s not the best choice for those who dislike long drives. The journey typically lasts 8-10 hours, subject to traffic and other factors.
A week before our departure, I received an email notifying me that our coach to Disneyland Paris had been canceled. Originally scheduled to depart on May 3rd at 9pm and arrive at Disneyland at 8:40am the next day, our new departure time was changed to 11:30pm on May 3rd, arriving at Paris Bercy Seine at 10:45am. Not going directly to Disneyland was frustrating, and I ended up spending an extra €49 on an Uber to get there. While public transport was the cheaper option, it wasn’t ideal with multiple heavy bags. The Uber ride from Paris Bercy Seine to Disneyland Paris took around 30 minutes.
Let’s dive into the journey details and what you can expect. We arrived at London Victoria Coach Station approximately 30 minutes before departure. When it’s time to board, a staff member will announce the process, and then they’ll check your tickets and passports. The drive to Dover can vary greatly depending on traffic, sometimes taking two hours or more.
Unlike our previous trip using the Eurotunnel, this time we traveled by ferry, specifically Irish Ferries, which was a new experience for me. Similar to airport travel, you’ll need to go through passport control, so be sure to have all your necessary documents ready.
After passport control, it’s back on the coach, and then it’s time to drive onto the ferry for the crossing. On the ferry, it was nice to see they had a soft play area for kids, but unfortunately, some adults decided to use it as a sleeping space. I found that a bit selfish, to be honest.
Once we boarded the coach, it was time to drive all the way to Paris Bercy Seine. As mentioned earlier, we used an Uber after to get to Disneyland. If you’re interested, I have multiple posts about Disneyland Paris on my blog where you can find tips and advice.
Overall, the journey was comfortable. If you can handle a 10-hour flight, you can manage on the coach. The only downside was the absence of chargers, which was surprising since it’s advertised on the website. However, the free Wi-Fi worked well, so I can’t complain about that. I recommend bringing portable chargers for the journey. You can also charge your devices on the ferry if needed.
FlixBus actually picked us up from Disneyland Paris, which I was very happy about. The stop was at the bus station near where Five Guys is located, just outside Disneyland Paris. It was very easy to find, and I had no issues. Hallelujah! The bus was also on time, which was a relief. The return journey was essentially the reverse of the trip there, so I won’t go into too much detail about it. I will note that the coach we took back was newer and a bit more comfortable than the one we used initially.
When it comes to pricing, you’ll need to do your own research because I’m not sure when you plan to travel or how many people will be with you. However, here’s a tip: look into FlixBus, Eurostar, and various airlines flying to Paris. FlixBus tends to be more budget-friendly and includes luggage in the fare. If you opt for flying, keep in mind that luggage costs can add up quickly. Eurostar tickets can be more expensive on weekends and during school holidays, so finding a good price might be challenging during those times.
Not everyone may find this journey suitable, but it’s ideal for those seeking to save money and those who prefer not to fly. As a child, I recall taking coach trips abroad to France and even Spain, which were even longer. I genuinely believe that the journey itself adds to the adventure, making it something I wholeheartedly recommend.
