REVIEW: Playmobil FunPark Germany – A Must-Visit for Families

The flight to Nuremberg cost £39 per person, booked through Skyscanner. We departed from Stansted Airport, where many budget flights from the UK are based, after taking a National Express coach from London Victoria. Although we flew with Ryanair, they changed our flight schedule 15 days before departure.

Originally scheduled for a 6:55am arrival at 9:30am, our flight was rescheduled to depart at 9:10am, arriving at 11:45am, which was less than ideal for our day trip, reducing our time in Germany. Ryanair offered us the option to change to the next available flight on the same route or one day before or after our new departure time without any fees or fare difference, and we opted to accept the new flight.

The flight to Nuremberg was remarkably short, just around 1 hour and 20 minutes. Upon arrival, we were fortunate to find a 6-seater taxi right outside the airport, which perfectly accommodated our group of 3 adults and 3 kids. The taxi ride cost around €36 one way, though public transport options are available and can be planned using apps like Citymapper. Playmobil FunPark is approximately 30 minutes away from Nuremberg Airport, making it a convenient destination for families and travelers visiting the area.

We booked our Playmobil FunPark tickets on getyourguide. If you’re not already familiar, GetYourGuide is an excellent platform offering a wide range of activities worldwide, from excursions and theme parks to boat rides and zoo trips, catering to everyone’s interests.

One of the key reasons to book with GetYourGuide is its flexibility. You can enjoy the benefit of free cancellation up to 24 hours in advance for a full refund, and you can reserve your spot now and pay later, which simplifies adjusting your plans without any upfront payment required.

In our case, when Ryanair changed our departure time with a 15-day notice, booking Playmobil FunPark tickets through GetYourGuide would have been hassle-free to adjust if needed. The flexibility and ease of use make GetYourGuide a fantastic choice for planning activities during your travels.

Playmobil FunPark is an ideal destination for children aged 3 to 10, offering a plethora of play opportunities rather than traditional rides. From the indoor adventure playground and mermaid hairdressing lagoon to the expansive castle and boats, kids can immerse themselves in endless fun activities. The kids that went on this trip were age 5 and 8 and they had a fantastic time running around and playing, enjoying the perfect weather. This was our second visit, and once again, Playmobil FunPark did not disappoint, delivering an unforgettable experience for the kids.

When it comes to dining options at Playmobil FunPark, you can anticipate typical kid-friendly fare such as pizza, fries, nuggets, and crepes, among other options. While these choices are available, you also have the option to bring your own snacks if preferred. Personally, I didn’t find the food to be overpriced; it’s on par with what you’d typically find at a family-oriented attraction like this, ensuring there’s something satisfying for everyone during your visit.

If you’re visiting Playmobil FunPark during the warmer months, it’s a great idea to bring swimsuits for your children. There are plenty of areas where kids can splash around and enjoy the water. Additionally, they provide dryers on-site, which you can use to dry your children’s clothes if needed, offering convenience and ensuring everyone stays comfortable during the visit.

When it was time to leave Playmobil FunPark and head back to the airport, we explored transportation options like Uber and Bolt. Unfortunately, Uber had a limit of four passengers per vehicle, and while Bolt offered a six-seater, there were no available taxis at the time.

Fortunately, I found the information desk at the park where a helpful staff member booked two separate taxis for our group due to the lack of larger vehicles. This is something to keep in mind if traveling with a larger group. After reaching the airport, we grabbed some food and waited for our departure. There was a slight delay in our flight, but it felt manageable given the short duration.

At Nuremberg Airport, we found two small but helpful play areas for kids, which were especially useful during our wait for our flight. Nuremberg Airport’s manageable size made navigation straightforward, and both security and passport control processes were quick and efficient. This made our travel experience smooth and enjoyable, with the added benefit of play areas for kids to keep them entertained while waiting for our flight.

However, upon returning to Stansted Airport, the passport control line was incredibly long due to a staffing shortage. We decided to use the fast track option for £6.50 per person, which I didn’t realise was available until then. You can easily book fast track on your phone by searching “Stansted Airport fast track passport control.” After navigating through passport control, we boarded the National Express coach back to London. For those who think cheap flights aren’t available on weekends, they definitely are as we went on a Saturday. I recommend regularly checking Skyscanner for deals.

Here are my top tips for using Skyscanner to find cheap flights. If you’re looking to visit a specific place, try to be flexible with your travel dates. Alternatively, if you’re just seeking affordable flights without a specific destination in mind, use the “explore everywhere” option on Skyscanner. This feature helps you discover the cheapest flights to various destinations, which is how we ended up traveling to Stockholm a few years ago. Experiment with different dates to find the most budget-friendly options.

Additionally, consider setting up email alerts for flights that interest you but are currently too expensive. This way, you’ll be notified if the prices drop, although they might also increase. Finally, when you spot a good deal, it’s generally wise to book it promptly, as flight prices can fluctuate unpredictably.
