Let me take you on a journey through our unforgettable experience at Plaza Gardens Restaurant, nestled in the heart of Main Street U.S.A. at Disneyland Paris. Despite a previous dining disappointment, we decided to give character dining a chance, and boy, were we glad we did!
After a less-than-stellar meal at the Pirates of the Caribbean restaurant, where the food left much to be desired, I was hesitant to dine at another Disneyland Paris eatery. However, the allure of character dining for little miss was too strong to resist. So, two months in advance, I secured our spot using the convenient Disneyland Paris app.
The anticipation built as we approached the charming Plaza Gardens Restaurant. With options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, we opted for the latter. At €80 for adults and €40 for kids aged 3-11, it wasn’t the cheapest option, but the experience proved worth every penny. Plus, a pleasant surprise awaited as my annual pass discount brought our total down to a delightful €102 (£87.21).
It’s actually an all-you-can-eat buffet that comes with one drink per person (you can pay extra for any more drinks). We ate our body weight in food, so I can 100% say we got our money’s worth.
They have vegetarian options, kosher, and halal dishes, and a list of major allergens that can be consulted for each dish. This is the current information on the website: “All our table service restaurants and all-you-can-eat restaurants within our Parks, Disney accommodation, and Disney Village can offer sealed and certified halal dishes and kosher meals. Please call us on 01 60 30 40 50 (international call rates apply) at least 48 hours ahead of time to order your meal.”
I was actually told that I’d have a waiter who would come round and show me the food and let me know what was suitable, as I have a nut allergy. Unfortunately, this didn’t happen, so I had to figure it out myself.
The food was actually good, much better than the monstrosity served at the Pirates of the Caribbean restaurant—wholeheartedly 100% recommend character dining at Plaza Gardens. I think even picky eaters would like this.
My daughter prefers simpler dishes, so she enjoyed the plain rice, prawns, and chicken. However, she was thrilled by the desserts, especially the chocolate fountain and Mickey Mouse chocolate cake – she adored all the Mickey-shaped treats.
As for me, I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious the plancha-grilled sliced skirt steak, crispy potatoes, chicken, and pork were.
We met some brilliant characters, and they made time for each family. It truly was a magical experience. Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Tigger, Pluto, and Goofy all graced us with their presence. Eeyore was there too, but unfortunately, we didn’t get the chance to meet him.
It’s not the cheapest Disneyland Paris adventure, but I would 100% do it again if there was a guarantee that the characters would be different.
