Explorers Hotel REVIEW: A Pirate-Themed Paradise Near Disneyland Paris

I paid €10.35 for the Uber ride to depart from the hotel from hell (Residence Du Parc Val d’Europe) and head towards Explorers Hotel, which appears fantastic on its website and various booking platforms, so my expectations were high. Explorers Hotel is a pirate-themed hotel located a short distance from Disneyland Paris.

Upon our early morning arrival at the reception, I was aware that we couldn’t check in until 3 pm. I inquired about storing our bags, and they informed us about a separate room for this purpose. The storage turned out to be spacious lockers, accommodating suitcases. Although I’m unsure of the exact size, they were quite large. The process was secure; you use a code to lock them, which is easy to follow. However, I would advise not to leave any valuables inside.

To maintain transparency, we received a one-night stay at the hotel in exchange for a review.

After stowing our luggage, we proceeded to explore the breakfast. Although breakfast was included in our stay, due to a flight schedule change by easyJet, we’d miss breakfast the next day. Consequently, I paid €6 (around £5.28) for Little Miss to have breakfast on our arrival day. Refer to the pictures below for the available options.

Following breakfast, I returned to the reception to inquire about the shuttle bus. To my surprise, our room was ready, prompting us to check it out. We fell in love with the room, featuring a double bed, a safe, extra pillows, a clothes hanging area, a TV, minibar, a bath and shower, a hairdryer, towels, a kettle, a bunk bed, and a separate toilet from the bathroom. The room was spacious and clean, with no complaints from me . Additionally, our room offered a lovely view of a lake and two playgrounds, which we unfortunately didn’t get to explore but plan to do so on our next visit.

We stayed in a family room, which can have adjoining rooms and accommodate 4 to 10 people. The family room for up to 4 people has a double bed and two single beds or bunk beds, starting from €143.1 per night. Other themed rooms are also available.

We then utilized the free shuttle bus to Disneyland from the hotel, conveniently located just outside. The shuttle operates regularly throughout the day, taking approximately 10 minutes to reach Disneyland.

For details about our third day at Disneyland Paris, check out this post.

After a day at Disneyland, we returned to the hotel for dinner at La Plantation, a buffet-style restaurant with a variety of options.

Additional dining options at the hotel include Marco’s Pizza and Captain’s Library (à la carte).

Following dinner, we explored the soft play area, a unique feature for a hotel. The soft play is open 24 hours a day.

We also enjoyed the XD cinema, priced at €6 per person, offering a super fun experience that I can only describe as playing video games in a Cineworld 4dx screen.

Next up was the indoor swimming pool, included in the hotel stay, providing year-round access. The water was warm, and although the pirate ship was closed during our visit, we hope to explore it on our next visit.

The hotel also boasts an arcade, appealing to kids. There’s another pirate ship divided into two parts—one inside the pool with a connected yellow slide and the other outside for kids to run around and explore.

Regarding hotel costs, it varies based on party size, duration of stay, and time of year. It’s recommended to check the website and explore different dates. Follow the hotel on social media for potential discounts.

Despite our stay feeling short due to a flight schedule change, we had a fantastic time. The hotel’s family-friendly atmosphere, with a focus on kids, makes it a great choice even for those not visiting Disneyland.

We hold Disneyland gold annual passes and plan to share more hotel reviews in the next 12 months to cater to various budgets.
