REVIEW: Our Stay at The Hut (Formerly Hagrid’s Hideaway) at North Hill Farm

I’m beyond excited to share this review with you! We just had the most amazing staycation, and I can’t wait to tell you all about it. Not only did we stay at an incredible spot, but we also revisited the Warner Bros. Studio Tour—something we haven’t done since 2017! The new updates were fantastic, and we loved every minute of it. Stay tuned as I dive into all the details of our trip!

The moment I laid eyes on Hagrid’s Hideaway (now called The Hut), I knew I had to book it—no matter the cost! Yes, it’s on the pricey side, but I saw it as an early birthday treat for both of us (we’re winter babies, after all 😉). I paid £220 for just one night, with a £66 deposit upfront. I know some of you might think that’s a bit steep, but for me, it was totally worth it! Being a HUGE Harry Potter fan, this stay was an absolute dream come true.

We were both completely in awe of the accommodation. It’s not exactly like Hagridd’s hut from the movies but it’s a really good copy.

The details were everything! You could really see how much thought and effort went into creating the perfect staycation for Potterheads. From the decor to the little touches, it was clear that the creators wanted to make this an enchanting experience for fans like us!

I loved that they had all the DVDs ready for us to watch, with Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone even queued up on the TV! Whether it was intentional or not, it made me so happy. We spent the entire afternoon and evening immersed in the movies, soaking up the magical atmosphere—it was the perfect way to unwind!

What’s inside Hagridd’s Hideaway?

  • A welcome letter and chocolate 😋
  • A bed, bunk bed and single bed
  • Fridge/freezer – ours had water and orange juice inside
  • Tea and coffee making facilities & snacks
  • Cutlery
  • Microwave, toaster & kettle
  • An fabulous bath!
  • Toilet and sink
  • Towels and toiletries were provided
  • A tv and the Harry Potter dvd collection

I think that’s everything. Forgive me if I’ve missed anything.

The best parts of the staycation.

  • Parking is super close by to Hagridd’s hut
  • We were right by the beautiful horses
  • it’s super close to the Warner bros studios. About 15 minutes in the car
  • The bath was fabulous!
  • I know I’ve said this already but I loved that they had all the dvds. I brought along my laptop to watch the movies just in case and I didn’t have to use it at all!
  • The beds were really comfy!

Minor inconveniences.

  • We were provided with two BBQ lighters, but neither had any lighter fluid in them (I think that’s what it’s called, lol). I called for assistance, and someone promptly brought us a replacement, so it wasn’t a huge issue at all. It was handled quickly and didn’t take away from our enjoyment!
  • The toaster had some old, dirty bread inside, which was quite annoying. At £220 a night, you’d expect every inch of the place to be spotless. This was a bit of a letdown, especially given the otherwise lovely accommodations.
  • There was a super cool opportunity to use a quill pen but there was no ink!

I couldn’t let the negatives overshadow the positives, though. Overall, it was a truly lovely staycation, and I can definitely see us doing it again in the future! The experience was special enough to make us want to return.

Warner Bros. Studio Tour London

Just so you know, this place is very much not in London but it’s pretty close by.

We first experienced this amazing tour back in 2017, right when they had just opened the Forbidden Forest. We loved it then, and we absolutely love it now! I was amazed at how much they’ve updated since our last visit. It may be pricey, but in my opinion, it’s worth every penny—though I think only a diehard Harry Potter fan would truly understand that sentiment!

This tour is amazing! It’s self-guided, allowing you to follow a one-way system at your own pace. I’d recommend setting aside about 3-4 hours to truly enjoy the experience and get your money’s worth. There’s so much to see and do!

You’ll discover a wealth of fascinating facts, see incredible sights, and even have the chance to step onto the actual sets. It’s truly a magical experience that every Harry Potter fan will cherish!

The Forbidden Forest might be a bit scary for very little ones, so just keep that in mind. It could even give adults a fright—there are some huge spiders lurking in there!

There was an awesome opportunity to have a wizard duel with real wands, and I couldn’t resist joining in on the fun, so I didn’t manage to get any pictures! You’ll find this exciting experience right before the Forbidden Forest, so be sure to check it out! It’s a highlight you won’t want to miss!

Like many attractions, the food is a bit pricey, so I’d recommend bringing a packed lunch if you can. It’s a great way to save some money and enjoy a picnic while soaking in the surroundings!

You can easily bring a buggy along, as the venue is accessible for pushing it around. They also have a free cloakroom if you prefer to leave it there while you explore!

There are toilets available on-site, and they also provide baby changing facilities, making it convenient for families.

For me, this was a 10/10 experience! I’d love to return in another four years to see what new additions they’ve made. It’s such a unique place, and I can’t wait to experience it all over again!
