REVIEW: I Will Tell You The Truth About Peppa Pig Afternoon Tea Bus Tour

peppa pig afternoon tea bus tour I think this just might be the most anticipated blog post ever 😆 I have honestly never had so many DMs on Instagram, so I’m going to answer all your questions here. Also, don’t forget to check out our Instagram highlight for more pictures and videos of our experience.

It’s time for the review of the Peppa Pig bus tour!

How much?

I’m going to be real with you; it’s pricey! It was just the two of us today and our experience cost just over £80. But, when I factor in everything that’s included, I do think it’s worth it. I’m sorry, but if you have a large family then it’s going to be quite an expensive day out😬

Lower deck: Adults: £55 and Kids: £45

Topdeck: Adults: £65 and Kids: £55

Topdeck VIP: Adults: £75 and Kids: £65

I was pleasantly surprised when we were told we could go on the top deck VIP section despite me paying for the lower deck. Obviously don’t assume this will happen to you. I think it’s maybe because it wasn’t crazy busy.

Pick up and drop off.

Departure Location: Somerset House

Departure Address: Victoria Embankment WC2R 0RN, by the River Thame

Please be there 15/20 minutes before as the bus cannot wait, Gates close 5 minutes before departure.

If you end up going on a super hot day, then why not make a day of it and head to the Somerset House fountains after? We went recently, and it’s lovely!

The afternoon tea.

Check out the menu below.

If you watched my stories a couple of days ago, then you would’ve seen me mention the fact that they don’t cater to nut allergy sufferers which annoyed me at first. Like I said above, it’s pretty expensive so it would’ve been nice to have nut-free options, but when I arrived, I was told that nothing is actually made with nuts. It’s just that they can’t guarantee that all the food will be nut-free which I’m very use to. I think everything I eat says “may contain nuts” which is very annoying but I’ve learned to deal with it for the last 26 years.

Of course, if little miss was the one with the allergy, then I would be a lot more cautious, but I decided to try the food today (with the epi-pen at my side lol) I also had to sign a form saying that I’m basically eating the food knowing the risks. Obviously, I’m not encouraging anyone to do the same, especially when it comes to your kids!

There are gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian options. You can find out more info here.

Also the Peppa Pig biscuits are amazing! 😍😍😍

The experience.

We arrived at the Somerset pick up stop about 20 minutes before we were due to depart. We were greeted by Mel (I think that his name. My hearing is awful 😬) and he was really sweet! He welcomed all the families and got the kids all super excited to get on the bus!

We were then checked in by another staff member who gave us our table numbers and allowed us to get on the bus one by one. You will need a mask to get on and off, but you won’t need it for the duration of the tour. You will also need to use some hand sanitiser before you get on.

I was so impressed with how lovely everything looked! There’s so much attention to detail, and the first thing little miss said was “wow mummy, this is amazing!” As a 26-year-old, I thought it was pretty amazing too 🤣

Special tablets are available on each table to provide a Peppa Pig guided animation of the London tour. We both really enjoyed this. It made the experience that extra bit special. Every kid is given an activity booklet they can take home.

We had some amazing Peppa pig singalongs including the famous The Bing Bong Song that’s still stuck in my head! We got to see some famous London landmarks like Saint Pauls Cathedral, Big Ben, Trafalgar Square, Tower Bridge and more! Peppa and her friends also told us some amazing facts about these landmarks, some of which we didn’t know about until today!

Mel (the tour guide/entertainment guy) was really good with the kids! He kept them entertained by playing games that everyone could join in with, helping everyone sing the correct lyrics lol and taking his time to interact with the different kids onboard. Such a lovely experience!

COVID precautions.

  • The bus tours will run at reduced capacity to comply with social distancing guidelines.
  • Staff will be wearing masks at all times.
  • Guests are being served their beverages in their own brand new reusable cup (it’s Peppa Pig themed 😍) which they are encouraged to take home after the tour.
  • Guests will be boarded and seated on to the bus from the front to back, and will be asked to exit in reverse order from back to front in order to further minimise close contact between guests.
  • There are screens around each of the tables to protect yourself from the other families on board (this sounds a bit mean but I’m not sure how else to word it haha)

More important info

  • I thought it would be good to mention that a loo is available onboard for the exclusive use by children only.
  • You’re given a takeaway box for any leftover food you may have.
  • There’s limited space for buggies, and they can only accept ones that fold up.
  • In the case they cannot meet your dietary needs, your own food is permitted.
  • There is a changing facility onboard, but it is for emergency use only. They advise changing nappies prior to boarding the bus.

Who is it for?

No under 2s unfortunately and I can’t see anything about an age limit 😆

How long is it on for?

Tours are available weekly from Thursdays to Sundays at 12:15 pm and 2:45 pm. I can’t seem to find anything about when it will end, but I’ll be sure to update this page when I do. You can book here.

Would I do it again?

No, but only because it’s just one of those things you only need to do once. This doesn’t mean we didn’t enjoy it because we really did! I think it’s brilliant and worth every penny. It would be lovely to see some more popular character-themed afternoon teas in the future. Maybe Thomas the Tank Engine or Paw Patrol! We’re up for whatever is next! 😉

Would you recommend sitting on the left or right side of the bus for maximum sightseeing potential?
