If you love themed afternoon teas, this is probably one of the coolest and most magical ones in London. The Wizard’s Afternoon Tea at Vintry & Mercer, near Mansion House, is a brilliant experience for kids and adults who want something fun, immersive and a little bit different. You step straight into a world of spells and potions, with enchanted hot chocolates, glittering elixirs, wand-shaped sweets and plenty of spooky treats. The location is great too, right in the heart of Central London, and the décor really adds to the experience.

One of the first things you’ll notice is that even the menu is magical. The staff give you a UV light, and when you shine it across the menu pages, hidden messages and little surprises appear. It’s such a fun touch and immediately sets the mood — the kids will absolutely love it, and even adults will enjoy the reveal.
Prices start from £37.50 for children and £49.50 for adults, but it’s worth noting that you can get it cheaper on Wowcher, which makes it a lot more affordable if you’re booking for the whole family. The afternoon tea runs on Saturdays and Sundays from 12pm to 5pm, and it opens daily during school holidays, which is ideal if you’re looking for something special to do during the break.

From the moment the tea stand arrives, you can see how much effort has gone into the theme. Everything is theatrical, detailed and fun. For savoury bites, expect truffled egg mayonnaise, smoked salmon and horseradish, and even a roast beef and Yorkshire pudding option. You still get your classic scones with jam and clotted cream to finish it off.
Adults can go for the standard Magical Afternoon Tea or upgrade with a glass of Charles Heidsieck Champagne, Wild Idol alcohol-free sparkling rosé or one of the Magical Teapot Tails. They also serve themed cocktails like the Witches Brew, Mystic Orb and Enchanting Hat if you want to lean fully into the wizard theme. Kids get a magical hot chocolate with marshmallows, and it’s presented in such a fun way that it feels like its own spell.
My afternoon tea might look a little different to yours because I have a nut allergy, so anything containing nuts was removed from our experience, but it was still brilliant. Everything felt well thought out, creative and immersive, and my daughter loved it from start to finish. If you’re looking for a themed afternoon tea in London that goes beyond the usual sandwiches and cakes, this one definitely delivers. It’s easy to reach, fun for all ages and makes a great family day out in Central London.
