NQ64 London REVIEW: What to Expect from Shorty Sundays with Kids

If you’re looking for something different to do with older kids or teens in London, Shorty Sundays at NQ64 is such a fun option. On the final Sunday of every month, from 11am to 3pm, under-18s are finally allowed inside this neon-splattered retro arcade bar. It’s normally an adults-only venue, so this is the only time kids can go in and enjoy all the classic games. You’ll need one adult for every three kids, and parental guidance is advised because it’s still an adult bar, so expect bits of graffiti and some 18+ games visible around the venue.

Shorty Sundays runs once a month, always on the last Sunday, and you have to book a slot. We visited the Soho location, and I genuinely loved the vibe inside — all the neon lights, retro consoles and arcade cabinets make it feel exciting from the minute you walk in. There were games I haven’t played in years, like Guitar Hero and The Simpsons arcade game, which properly took me back.

There are two main ticket options. The Arcade Gaming Pass costs £10–£12 per player, and each person gets 25 tokens to use across all the retro machines. Most games only need one or two tokens, and kids also get a soft drink included. The Family Play Pass costs £40–£50 per family and gives you 100 game tokens plus four drink tokens, which you can use on soft drinks or standard alcoholic drinks if you’re over 18. It’s a good option if you’re going as a group and want more freedom to play without running out too quickly.

NQ64 has two London locations — Soho and Shoreditch, and both have the same bold, neon-splattered, retro arcade look. We went to the Soho branch and thought it was a great atmosphere for gaming with kids during the short window they’re allowed in. It’s something a bit different, it’s indoors, and it’s perfect if you’ve got children who love games or if you’re nostalgic for the ones you grew up playing.

Shorty Sundays is a fun, affordable and energetic way to spend a Sunday morning with the kids, and it’s nice that London has a cool arcade bar that opens its doors to families, even if it’s just once a month. Book here.
