Flying to Billund with Norwegian
We recently flew with Norwegian for the very first time and I have to say, they’ve already earned a big thumbs-up from me! Not only was the flight smooth and on time, but they also offer in-flight Wi-Fi, which is a game changer for short-haul European routes. I paid €5.99 for one hour of Wi-Fi, and it worked perfectly the entire time.
Normally, we would fly from London Stansted to Billund with Ryanair, but unfortunately, that route has now been discontinued. Thankfully, Norwegian now operates a direct route from London Gatwick to Billund, making it much easier for a lot of London families to reach Western Denmark, home to Legoland LEGO House and Lalandia Billund Resort. For me, Gatwick is actually more convenient to get to than Stansted, and although the fares might not be quite as cheap as Ryanair’s were, it’s still great to have an affordable alternative — especially when you compare prices with British Airways, which are often significantly higher.
Getting from Billund Airport to Lalandia
When we landed, we already knew that public transport in Billund isn’t the most frequent. Buses don’t always run regularly, so instead of waiting, we took an Uber which cost £19 for the eight-minute journey to Lalandia Billund.
If you’d rather take the bus, I recommend downloading the Rejsebillet app, which lets you buy tickets straight from your phone. Buses here also accept cash, and there’s a cash point at the airport if needed. Lalandia is just one stop from the airport and costs around 26 DKK (roughly £2.80), with children under 12 travelling free.
You can also use Apple Maps or Google Maps to check live bus schedules and plan your journey easily.
Where We Stayed
We stayed at Lalandia Billund, in a Classic Plus 4 home located at Pilestien 403, DK-7190 Billund. It was the perfect base for our family stay — spacious, clean, and fully equipped with everything you could possibly need. Our accommodation had two bedrooms with four single beds and a cot, plus a cosy living and dining area with a sofa, TV, dishwasher, fridge, microwave, cooker, kettle, and all the other essentials for self-catering. There was also a bathroom with a shower, washer and dryer, and even an outdoor space with a barbecue and seating area which ideal for relaxing after a fun day at Lalandia.
If you’re like me and prefer not to drive on the other side of the road, you’ll be glad to know that Lalandia has a land train that runs between the accommodation areas and the main entrance where all the activities are. Depending on where you’re staying, the walk can be a bit long, so the land train — called the Lalandia Express — is a really handy option.

More Information on Your Stay at Lalandia
All holiday homes at Lalandia come with free Wi-Fi, so you can stay connected throughout your stay.
You can choose to bring your own bed linen and towels from home, but if you’d rather travel light, you can easily rent everything you need on-site. There’s also a handy Starter Kit available, which includes all the basics to help you settle in and kick off your holiday smoothly.
Electricity, water, and heating aren’t included in the initial booking price. Instead, you’ll pay based on your actual usage during your stay. The amount will automatically be deducted from the same card you used to pay for your booking, and you’ll receive an email receipt with a full breakdown once your stay is over.
If you need somewhere to store your bags after check-out, there are large lockable luggage boxes available. You can use these with a Danish twenty krone coin.
Lalandia Wristbands, Access & What’s Included
One thing I loved straight away about Lalandia Billund is how easy everything is from the moment you arrive. Our Gold wristbands were already waiting for us inside our accommodation when we checked in, so there was no need to queue or visit reception. The wristbands act as your pass for activities around the resort. They give you free access to a good range of fun experiences throughout your stay.
Another small but brilliant feature is that instead of a traditional key, each house has a key code entry system, which means you can easily unlock and lock your accommodation without worrying about losing a key while out and about. You just have to remember the code but they email this to you before your visit!
If you book directly with Lalandia, you can purchase Gold wristbands before arrival, giving you unlimited access to loads of activities for one simple price:
209 DKK (around £24) for stays of 2–3 nights 249 DKK (around £29) for stays of 4 nights or more
Your Gold Wristband is valid from 3pm on your arrival day and remains active until the end of your departure day, so you can make the most of every minute.
Included activities cover an impressive list — bowling, high jump, ice skating, football pool, mini golf, the sports hall, padel, fitness centre, shuffleboard, climbing wall, Sky Rider, and Adventure Tower — meaning there’s plenty to keep both kids and adults entertained.
Do note that coin-operated games and craft activities (like sweet-making and Monky Tonky’s Workshop) aren’t included, but the resort’s biggest highlights — Aquadome and Monky Tonky Land — are always free with your stay.

Monky Tonky Land Soft Play
One of the first activities we tried at Lalandia Billund was Monky Tonky Land which is the resort’s massive indoor soft play area that’s every child’s dream. It’s huge, bright, and full of energy, with slides, tunnels, a mini football pitch, and giant LEGO-style building blocks for kids to create and explore. There are also plenty of comfortable seating areas for parents, plus dedicated spaces to leave coats, shoes, and bags so you can relax while the little ones burn off energy.
Monky Tonky Land is included in your stay, so you can visit as often as you like so it is perfect for rainy days or when you just want a few hours of easy indoor fun.

On-Site Supermarket at Lalandia Billund
Another great feature at Lalandia Billund is the on-site supermarket, which stocks everything from groceries and drinks to toiletries and basic household essentials you might have forgotten at home. While prices are a bit higher than a your regular supermarket, it’s incredibly convenient, especially if you’re not driving or don’t fancy leaving the resort. It’s ideal for quick top-ups or grabbing breakfast items and snacks for the kids. I also recommend packing a few non-perishable items in your luggage, such as noodles or anything else that suits your family’s preferences, if you want to save a bit of money on food. There’s also a Netto supermarket about a 30-minute walk away from Lalandia if you’re looking for cheaper grocery options.
Family Fun at Lalandia’s Aquadome
The Aquadome is one of the highlights of Lalandia and it now has a brand-new kids’ area, making it even better for families.
There are lots of slides for different ages and heights, so everyone from toddlers to teens can join in the fun. You’ll also find a wave machine that’s always a hit and an outdoor pool area that can still be used even when it’s cold, as the water is nicely heated all year round.
Inside, there’s a small food court so you don’t have to leave when you get hungry. There’s also a seating area away from the water activities, meaning no chlorine-flavoured food, and plenty of loungers and chairs if you just want to sit back and relax. The earlier you arrive, the better your chance of getting a seat in the spot you want.
The lockers are really handy as they open and close using your wristband, so there’s no need to remember codes or worry about losing a key. If you fancy a bit of quiet time, there’s also a sauna for adults to unwind while the kids have fun.
Overall, the Aquadome is just great fun. It’s Scandinavia’s biggest waterpark, and even after visiting plenty of times, we still enjoy it every single time.

Other Activities and Family Fun
There’s so much to do at Lalandia, and we made the most of it during our stay. We played a few rounds of mini golf, which was of course fun and a little competitive, and then headed over for some bowling, which is always a laugh.
We had plenty of fun at Monky Tonky Land, and we also checked out the Sky Rider, which is new since our last visit. It’s a suspended track that lets you glide above the Winterworld, giving you a bird’s-eye view of all the action below — such a fun experience for both kids and adults.
We also went ice skating, which never gets old and is one of our favourite things to do as a family. What’s great about Lalandia is that a lot of the activities are indoors, so you can visit and enjoy everything no matter what time of year it is.
