Chicken Run: Eggstraction REVIEW – A Fun and Feather-Filled Adventure for the Whole Family

Chicken Run: Eggstraction, released on October 24 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC, is the latest family-friendly action game from Outright Games and Aardman. We’ve been playing it on our Nintendo Switch and it’s been a big hit in our house.

Outright Games and Aardman have teamed up to bring back the world of Chicken Run with all the familiar humour, charm and heart that fans love. Chicken Run: Eggstraction continues the story from Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget, which we’d already watched, so we were familiar with the characters and plot. I’d definitely recommend giving the movie a watch first if you haven’t already, as it makes the game even more enjoyable and it’s genuinely really funny too.

In the game, players rejoin the flock on a daring new mission to save chicken-kind. You can team up in two-player local co-op and explore a range of high-security locations from the industrial Chump Factory to the maze-like Peckingham Manor. You’ll need to sneak around, create disguises, distract guards and even launch your teammates into action.

The missions we’ve played so far have been simple enough for children to follow, even the youngest ones, especially with a bit of help. It’s the kind of game that’s easy to pick up but still exciting enough to keep older players entertained too.

The art style is bright and fun, perfectly matching Aardman’s signature stop-motion look, and the soundtrack really adds to the adventure. It’s packed with clever details and little jokes that fans of the films will love spotting.

Overall, Chicken Run: Eggstraction is a great family game that combines teamwork, humour and creativity in a way that keeps everyone engaged. Whether you’re sneaking past guards or knitting decoy chickens, it’s full of light-hearted fun that makes it perfect for family gaming nights. It’s also a great stay-at-home activity, especially now that the weather’s cold and gloomy — the perfect excuse to cosy up indoors and play together.
