ZooTown at London Zoo – A Brand New Indoor Role Play Adventure for Kids
ZooTown is the newest addition to London Zoo — and it’s already proving to be one of the most exciting family attractions in the capital. This immersive indoor role play experience is designed especially for curious kids aged 3 to 8, inviting them to step into a miniature world full of imagination, learning and fun.
What is ZooTown?
Set inside the zoo’s former Reptile House, ZooTown has transformed this iconic space into a vibrant mini-city bursting with life and creativity. Children can explore a world of possibilities as they dress up, get hands-on, and take part in activities inspired by the real work that happens behind the scenes at London Zoo.
From zookeepers and conservationists to vets, posties, presenters and scientists, kids can test out all sorts of fascinating roles that help the zoo (and the planet!) run smoothly. Expect to see little ones tracking animals in the Field Camp, checking patient charts in the Vet Hospital, delivering letters around ZooTown Post, or mixing up feeds in the Keeper Kitchen. It’s educational, interactive, and above all — a whole lot of fun.

My Honest Thoughts
I think ZooTown is a fantastic new addition to London Zoo — something kids are genuinely going to love. Personally, I think it would be even better as a shoeless experience, just to keep things a little cleaner for all the little ones running around.
The 45-minute sessions might feel a bit short, especially for older children, but I completely understand they need time between sessions for cleaning and resetting the space. For toddlers, though, it’s just about right.
The £1 ticket price is incredible value for what you get — even though you do need to pay the regular zoo admission on top. If you’re looking to save on entry, definitely look out for discounts and offers. For example, my daughter has a Blue Peter Badge card, which gives her free entry to London Zoo until she’s 16, and there are other great ways to save if you plan ahead.
Even though ZooTown is recommended for ages 3–8, I know my nine-year-old would still love it. We haven’t been yet, but it’s definitely on our list.

Final Thoughts
Overall, ZooTown is a brilliant new experience for families visiting London Zoo — creative, educational, and perfect for sparking kids’ imaginations. If you’re looking for something new to do in London with children, this is one to add to your must-visit list.
