How Much We Spent on a Day Trip to Efteling

This was our second time visiting Efteling – and honestly, it won’t be our last!

Efteling is one of the most magical theme parks in Europe, located in the Netherlands and packed with fairy tale charm, immersive rides, and stunning scenery. We loved it so much on our first visit that we had to come back again!

The first time we visited, we stayed a couple of nights, and I covered all the details – from accommodation to park highlights – in this blog post. But this time, we did things differently.

In this post, I’m breaking down exactly how we managed to do Efteling as a day trip and sharing a full cost breakdown so you know exactly what to expect if you’re planning something similar.

Taxi to Victoria Coach Station

We paid £10.90. It’s usually a little cheaper, but Uber prices fluctuate quite a lot depending on the time of day.

Coach to Stansted Airport

£31.60 for one adult and 1 child return. I booked this in advance and also used TopCashback to save a bit of extra money.

If you’re not already using TopCashback, it’s worth checking out. You simply click through their site before making a booking, and they give you a portion of the money back. In this case, I got £1.26 back just for booking the coach.

Flights

£50.98 per person, return. We flew from Stansted to Eindhoven. These were booked via Skyscanner fairly last minute on the 1st of June, so you can definitely find cheaper deals with more notice.

Flight times were: Departing Stansted at 06:20 and arriving in Eindhoven at 08:25 and returning from Eindhoven at 21:20 and landing back at Stansted at 21:25.

Taxi to and from Efteling

For getting to and from Efteling, you can use a local taxi (which may be more expensive) or opt for ride-sharing apps like Uber or Bolt. Prices vary depending on factors like time of day, demand, and location, so it’s hard to give an exact cost. That said, when I checked Uber, I saw one-way prices for a 4-seater starting at around €77 (roughly £65). It takes around 30 minutes by car.

Efteling Tickets

£42 per person, booked through GetYourGuide.

I love using GetYourGuide because it’s reliable, easy to use, and you can often cancel up to 24 hours in advance if plans change. It’s also a great way to keep all your tickets and confirmations in one place.

Keep in mind that children under 4 can enter Efteling for free, so if you’re travelling with a toddler, that’s a nice little saving.

Food and drink

£40.32. We brought some snacks from home, which is always a smart idea when visiting theme parks as it definitely helped us save a bit! In the park, we stuck to the usual theme park staples like fries, hot dogs, and other quick bites. Since it was a hot day, I ended up spending a fair bit on drinks to keep us cool and hydrated throughout. Bringing your own snacks is a great way to cut costs without missing out on the essentials.

All in all, this day trip to Efteling was 100% worth it. When you add everything up, it actually worked out cheaper than a lot of family days out here in the UK — especially in London.

With prices constantly rising and budgets getting tighter, finding affordable ways to create memories with our kids is more important than ever. Efteling gave us a full day of magic, fun, and adventure — and we’d do it all over again in a heartbeat.
