We recently went back to Brussels for another family adventure, and this time I wanted to share exactly how we got there, where we stayed, how we got around, and everything we did that’s perfect if you’re travelling with kids. We travelled from London to Brussels by Eurostar, which is hands down one of the easiest ways to travel with children. I had saved up enough Virgin Points to redeem a £200 Eurostar voucher, which helped cover the whole cost of our tickets. Adult fares were £49 on the way there and £39 coming back, while children’s tickets were £31 there and £28 back. After booking, I still had £53 left on the voucher, so it was a really budget-friendly way to take the trip.
One of the things I love most about the Eurostar—especially when you’re travelling as a family—is how quick and stress-free the whole process is. It took us just 20 minutes to get through security and passport control, and we didn’t have to worry about things like 100ml liquid restrictions, which is such a relief when you’ve got children’s snacks, drinks or toiletries in your bags. Even if you make a small mistake like spelling a name wrong on the booking, they won’t hit you with huge fees—you can usually just carry on without any issues. It just feels easy from start to finish.

Our train from London St Pancras International left at 06:16 in the morning and we arrived at Brussels Midi at 09:13 local time. The journey itself took just over two hours and flew by—it was fast, smooth, and super convenient. On the way back, we boarded our return train from Brussels at 20:22 and got back into London at 21:27. Once we arrived in Brussels, getting around the city was really straightforward. I just used my contactless card for travel, which worked like an Oyster card and cost €8.40 for unlimited travel in a day. For my daughter, I bought a three-day transport ticket that cost roughly £23, although I could have just used another contactless card for her too. Everything from start to finish was smooth, affordable, and really family-friendly.
We stayed at nhow Brussels Bloom, a stylish and modern hotel located not too far from the Brussels Midi station, making it a super convenient base for exploring the city. The hotel is well-connected with excellent transport links and is close to popular attractions like The Smurf Experience, Legoland Discovery Centre, and other fun family-friendly spots.
Our hotel room was spacious, beautifully designed, and packed with thoughtful extras to make our stay as comfortable as possible. We were provided with soft robes, comfy slippers, sleeping masks, and earplugs, which made it feel like a luxury experience. The room also included a very comfortable bed, a TV, a coffee table, a chair, and a long desk with another chair—great if you need to get some work done. There was a mini fridge and a Nespresso machine. The bathroom was well-stocked with everything you might need: towels, a dental kit, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, body lotion, hand soap, lip balm, a shower cap, and even a comb. There was also a safe, an ironing board, and a powerful shower. We stayed on the eighth floor and had a stunning view over Brussels, which made waking up each morning feel extra special.

What I really liked about the room was that it came with a speaker. I’d forgotten to bring my daughter’s Mini Yoto player, which she uses every night to listen to her favourite stories before bed. Luckily, I was able to connect to the speaker using the Yoto app and play her usual bedtime stories, which was such a relief and made things feel a bit more like home. While we don’t go on holiday to watch TV, I thought it was a great touch that the room had CBBC and the Disney Channel—perfect for those quiet evenings when we just wanted to chill and unwind before bed.

The breakfast at nhow Brussels is absolutely fantastic and easily one of the highlights of the stay. There’s something for everyone – whether you’re following a specific diet, travelling with picky eaters, or just love having plenty of options in the morning. Hot food includes eggs, sausages, bacon bits, toast and more all fresh and tasty. There’s a great selection of cereals, fruit, and teas, plus a variety of juices and a coffee machine for that essential morning boost. You can even enjoy a virgin Bloody Mary if you’re feeling fancy. Their croissants were a personal favourite – so buttery and fluffy, just the way they should be. There were also a doughnut wall, ready-made waffles, pancakes, and even a DIY waffle maker so you can make your own exactly how you like it. Whether you’re after a light start or a full-on breakfast feast, nhow Brussels delivers.

There is even a secret sweet room connected to the breakfast area – we actually didn’t notice it on our first morning! It’s a little area filled with lots of sweets to choose from, and I thought it was such a cute touch.
The hotel had a lovely and spacious gym located on the 8th floor, and it was actually right by our room. I had a quick browse, and if I’d had the energy (we did so much walking!) I probably would’ve used it. It had weights, treadmills, and more, plus a lovely view over Brussels. Another great thing about this hotel is their checkout time. I think 12pm is the perfect time – it allows you to be a little lazy if you want, without feeling rushed to get out early.

There’s also a gorgeous botanical garden right outside the hotel. There’s even a maze in there! We had a nice little walk around the garden in the sun, and it was just stunning.
Just a 10-minute walk from our hotel, we found a Lidl where we stocked up on water and snacks—perfect for busy days out. The hotel does have a small convenience-style shop near reception, but Lidl offered a much wider selection at better prices.
I can’t tell you exactly how much this stay will cost you, as prices vary depending on your travel dates and party size, so you’ll need to check directly on their website for the most accurate information.

One of the first activities we did in Brussels was the LEGO Discovery Centre, which is an ideal choice if you’re looking for fun things to do with kids in Brussels. It’s perfect for LEGO fans of all ages and makes for an unforgettable family day out.
With more than 12 interactive activity zones, LEGO® 4D movies, creative workshops, and over 2 million LEGO bricks to explore, there’s something to keep every child engaged and entertained. It’s one of the best indoor attractions in Brussels for families.

We also visited Gamestate an arcade Spot— a good option if you’re travelling with kids or tweens. We actually did the same in Berlin a couple of years ago, and the Brussels version was okay. It’s quite small if I’m being honest. We paid around £16.33 for 30 credits, and most games cost just 2 credits, making it a fun and fairly affordable outing.
On our second day in Brussels, we visited Mundo Pixar again — an immersive experience where you journey through your favourite Pixar films brought to life. I booked the 9:30am slot thinking it would be quieter… but wow, I was wrong! It was actually pretty packed, and at times it was a bit tricky to get clear photos. That said, it was still such a fun experience. Some of you might remember we did this in Madrid and absolutely loved it. There’s even a rumour it might be coming to London later this year — so keep an eye out!

It’s located right next to The Smurfs Experience, which we did last year and I also highly recommend. It’s so much fun and super interactive — perfect for kids (and nostalgic adults too!).
We booked Mundo Pixar through the Fever app — just switched the location from London to Brussels. We also booked The Museum of Infinite Realities on Fever. I’m still not entirely sure what it was all about, to be honest — it was definitely immersive, a little weird at times, but overall a really cool and unique experience.

On our final day in Brussels, we made the most of the 12pm hotel check-out and enjoyed a slow, relaxed morning before heading to our last activity — a chocolate-making workshop we booked through Get Your Guide. Luckily, the hotel kindly let us store our luggage after check-out, which made things much easier as we explored.
The chocolate workshop was such a highlight of the trip! We each made a full block of milk chocolate, got creative designing our own chocolate shapes with dark chocolate, and even made five handmade truffles each. It wasn’t just fun — it was genuinely educational too. We learned so much about how chocolate is made, from bean to bar. One thing I really appreciated was how seriously the staff took hygiene. Everyone had to wear hairnets, and if anyone touched their face, they had to rewash their hands before continuing. It gave me a lot of confidence in the quality of the experience.
The workshop was easy to find from our hotel and definitely something I’d recommend if you’re visiting Brussels with kids, friends or even solo. It was fun, hands-on, and you get to take home your delicious creations!

After the workshop, we had a little time to take in some last-minute sights before collecting our luggage and heading back to the station. Travelling home on the Eurostar was, as always, super easy and stress-free. Honestly, we love travelling by Eurostar — it makes quick city breaks across Europe feel so doable. If only there was a train to Jamaica!
