If you haven’t heard of Taste Film, it’s a unique, immersive experience in London where you watch a beloved movie while enjoying a menu inspired by the film’s key moments. Think of it as dinner and a movie taken to the next level! Each dish corresponds to an iconic scene, making the whole experience feel like you’re stepping into the movie itself.
This was our second time trying Taste Film, and we were excited to see how it compared to our first experience, which was Home Alone—a movie that truly captured the holiday spirit for us. Our first go was pretty good, so we were eager to see how they’d bring Monsters, Inc. to life on our plates.
Monsters, Inc. has always been a comfort movie for me. It’s one of those films I turn to on a stressful day for a bit of laughter and warmth. So naturally, the idea of pairing the movie with a themed menu sounded like a dream come true! Sharing it with my daughter made it even more special.
The Menu Experience
We went with the Classic menu (you can see the menu in the image below). For my daughter, they offered an alcohol-free drink option, which was a thoughtful touch. Here’s what we had and my thoughts on each dish:
Work Place Waffle: A chicken waffle with avocado and a spicy Bloody Mary sauce. I loved this dish—it was a flavorful and fun start to the evening.
Socks to Be You: A drink that paired orange vodka, Aperol, orange juice, cinnamon syrup, chili bitters, and soda. My daughter’s alcohol-free version still captured the citrusy sweetness and was a hit for her.
BAAAH!O Buns: Pulled brisket bao buns paired with tempura prawns, a gochujang dip, and smashed cucumber salad. This was one of my favorites! The buns were fluffy, and the bold flavors were spot-on.
Yellow Snow: This dish was a deconstructed lemon meringue pie topped with lemon sorbet and lingonberry coulis. Unfortunately, this one didn’t win me over—it wasn’t quite the balance of tart and sweet I’d hoped for.
Slime to Go!: Green apple jelly for dessert. While creative, it didn’t wow me, but I appreciated the playful concept.

What We Loved and Lessons Learned
The Taste Film experience truly stands out for its creativity. Watching Sulley and Mike race to save Boo while sampling dishes inspired by the movie was an absolute treat! That said, not every item on the menu was to my taste—and that’s the gamble with this type of experience. While £80 per person is a bit steep, it covers a three-course meal, a themed drink, and the immersive fun of watching a movie in such a unique way. For me, the overall experience is worth it, but I’d only recommend bringing kids who aren’t picky eaters.
Looking Ahead
We booked this experience through the Fever app, and I’m already keeping an eye out for future kid-friendly screenings. Two upcoming movies that have caught my eye are Ratatouille and The Princess and the Frog—two Disney classics I adore. If they’re done as creatively as Monsters, Inc., they’ll be must-tries for us!
Taste Film is such a delightful concept for anyone who loves food, movies, and a little creativity. Even if you don’t enjoy every dish, the fun of immersing yourself in the world of your favorite film makes it all worthwhile.
