REVIEW: Junior Cookery Class at Waitrose Cookery School King’s Cross: Fun-Filled Parent-Child Experience

Looking for a unique way to bond with your child over a hands-on, cooking adventure? The Junior Cookery Class at the Waitrose Cookery School in King’s Cross, London is perfect for parent-child bonding, offering an engaging experience that’s as delicious as it is memorable. Held just inside the actual Waitrose shop, this class is easy to get to and provides a cosy, intimate setting for cooking together.

From the start, it was clear that this class was designed with both learning and fun in mind. Each child-parent duo had their own cooking station, which I really appreciated. Having a private station allowed us to focus and work together on our cake, without the need to share with others. While there’s nothing wrong with sharing, having our own space made the experience feel more personal and relaxed.

When I booked, the class was priced at £65. Since then, the price has increased to £75. Even with the change, I believe it’s still worth every penny. The class lasted for a full two hours, giving us ample time to learn, decorate, and enjoy the process of making a ghostly chocolate cake. The cake itself was rich and decadent, with spooky white chocolate ghosts adding a festive touch that kids will love!

The Junior Cookery Class is tailored for kids aged 6-15, with each child required to have an accompanying adult who also participates. In addition to our private cooking stations, we were offered free hot drinks for adults and squash for the kids, which seemed to be unlimited—a thoughtful touch that made the experience even more enjoyable.

Each session includes aprons for the class, a private station, and all the recipes to take home so you can recreate the experience. And best of all, the team handles all the washing up, allowing you to focus purely on bonding and fun. With a maximum class size of 20, this cookery session keeps things intimate and ensures everyone gets the help they need. Conveniently located just a short walk from King’s Cross Station, it’s an ideal choice for a day out and something I’d 100% recommend to any parent looking for a unique baking class in London with their kids.
