REVIEW: What to Expect from Ma Petite Jamaica’s Reggae Bottomless Brunch

Over the weekend, I attended the bottomless brunch at Ma Petite Jamaica in Shoreditch, which I booked through the Fever app. The tickets offered 90 minutes of bottomless rum punch or prosecco, along with a two-course meal. Although I went with a friend and we had a fun time, the food left much to be desired, making this a spot I’d recommend more for drinks than brunch.

I found the tickets for the brunch on the Fever app, which was super convenient. The package included two courses and 90 minutes of bottomless drinks, with a choice between rum punch or prosecco. However, you couldn’t mix and match the drinks, which was a bit disappointing. The restaurant is located in Shoreditch, a lively and easily accessible area, and I found the venue without any trouble.

The atmosphere at Ma Petite Jamaica was definitely a highlight. The place had a laid-back, Caribbean vibe with great music that set the tone for a fun afternoon. The staff were all lovely and attentive, and the service was impressively quick. Our drinks were constantly being topped up during the 90-minute window, and the rum punch was tasty, though I wish we could have sampled the prosecco too.

This is where things went a bit downhill. For starters, I had the jerk chicken wings with sweet potato crisps and jerk sauce. The flavours were decent, but the portion size was shockingly small—just two chicken wings. While I understand it’s a starter, the portion felt underwhelming for a brunch.

For my main course, I had the spiced buttermilk chicken tenders and barbecued pork ribs, served with fries and coleslaw. The chicken tenders were fine, but nothing special—something you could easily pick up from the frozen aisle at Iceland. As for the pork ribs, they were incredibly disappointing. There was barely any meat on the bones, making the dish feel like more of a tease than a satisfying meal. The fries and coleslaw were okay, but overall, the main course lacked substance.

While the drinks, service, and vibe were all great, the food just didn’t measure up. I’ve had better Caribbean-inspired food at places like Turtle Bay, which says a lot about the experience here. For those who are more focused on having a fun, boozy afternoon, I’d recommend Ma Petite Jamaica for the drinks and the atmosphere. However, if you’re expecting a delicious meal, this might not be the best choice for brunch. Stick to the rum punch and good times, and maybe grab a bite elsewhere.

Would I come back? Yes, but only for the drinks and the reggae vibes.
