The CBeebies Rainbow Adventure has officially opened in Westfield London (White City), and we were invited to check it out. In this review, I’ll share all the details about this exciting new attraction. Located where the old Disney store/ Yo Sushi used to be, it’s described as “where theatre meets play, music, and lots of surprises.”
The experience start with you meeting a friendly Rainbow Gardener who needs help finding the missing colours to light up the CBeebies Rainbow. This immersive experience is quite similar to the Paddington Bear Experience we reviewed a few weeks ago, featuring a walk-through guided by characters through various themed rooms. Note that there is a strict no photos/video policy, which I’ll discuss further.
The adventure comprises six beautifully designed rooms. The Bluey room stood out as the best, with most children thoroughly enjoying it. The Mr. Tumble room was also quite popular. It’s a fantastic immersive experience, though there are areas that could use improvement.
There is strict enforcement of the no photos rule, and I was even reprimanded by behind the scenes staff for attempting to take pictures. While I understand the need for such a policy, as an invited guest who didn’t pay myself, it feels important to show people what they’re paying for. Recommending this experience is challenging without photo or video content, especially given the cost. At the end of the journey, you get to meet a beloved character for a free photo opportunity; we met Bluey, which was delightful but very quick.
This experience is ideal for children aged 3 to 5, possibly stretching to ages 6 and 7. My daughter, who is 8, had a great time. However, older kids who are into trends like makeup and TikTok dances might not enjoy it as much. I would say kids under 3 might be fascinated by the colours and sets but could struggle to stay engaged with the guided activities. This is just my opinion based on the children in my group.
Tickets are from £15 for children and from £17.50 for adults, with babes in arms admitted for free. A £1 handling fee applies per order. Normally I would say this was reasonable but, the experience was somewhat spoilt by hearing the group behind us in every room. The rooms are not fully enclosed, which affects soundproofing and overall enjoyment. Additionally, smaller group sizes would improve the experience, as larger groups can feel chaotic.
The facility includes a buggy park and lockers, which are free to use since bags are not allowed inside. Merchandise is available, starting from £2.50. There’s also a QR code at the check-in desk offering 10% off all toys at John Lewis and a free kids’ meal at their in-store restaurant.
Despite some shortcomings, the CBeebies Rainbow Adventure is a lovely experience that I would recommend, especially for younger children. The sound issue between rooms can be off-putting, but if you can overlook that, it’s an enjoyable outing. Keep an eye on their website for upcoming relaxed performances.
