REVIEW: “The Play That Goes Wrong” at the Duchess Theatre, London

If you’re in search of an evening filled with laughter, “The Play That Goes Wrong” at the Duchess Theatre in London is an absolute must-see. I had the pleasure of attending last night’s performance, and the audience, myself included, was in stitches from start to finish.

The play delivers a unique experience by presenting a play within a play. “The Murder at Haversham Manor,” a classic whodunnit, unfolds with everything going hilariously wrong. From actors forgetting their lines to a tech missing his cue because he’s distracted by his phone, the chaos is nonstop. The blend of slapstick comedy and sheer absurdity is brilliantly executed, making for a cleverly crafted production that will leave you with that “after gym” pain from all that laughter.

We sat in the Dress Circle, Row F, and enjoyed a fantastic view. While the best seats might be in the stalls, our seats were perfect, and the theatre offers free booster seats for anyone who needs them.

Age Recommendation: Suitable for ages 8 and up. My daughter, who is 8, found it incredibly silly and funny, even if some of the humor went over her head. Older kids will undoubtedly love it too.

Running Time: The show runs for 2 hours and 5 minutes, including a 20-minute interval.

The theatre’s location near Covent Garden is ideal, surrounded by charming restaurants perfect for a pre- or post-show meal.

For an evening of unrivaled comedy and entertainment, “The Play That Goes Wrong” is a definite must-watch.
