We visited The Langham hotel in London for their kids Easter baking session, which has now gained traction on my TikTok and Instagram pages. While the cost is £115 per child (adults don’t need to pay), it promises to be quite a luxurious day out.
Upon arrival at 9am (just a short walk from Oxford Circus station), we enjoyed a delightful spread of pastries, yoyo bears snacks, fruits, popcorn, apple and orange juice, and hot beverages. Although I typically fast every day and skip breakfast, I made an exception on this special occasion. I was determined to ensure that I got my money’s worth from the £115 experience.
This might sound expensive, but in my opinion, it’s well worth the investment. In this blog post, I’ll delve into why I believe this experience is valuable.
After enjoying our breakfast snacks, we headed to their kitchen to begin our first cooking experience. We were greeted by three chefs, one of whom explained the recipe and demonstrated how to make a delicious lime and coconut cake. Despite not typically enjoying lime or coconut flavors, my daughter was provided with all the necessary tools and ingredients to create this amazing cake, which turned out to be surprisingly delightful.
With the lime and coconut cake completed, it was time to prepare crispy chocolate nests. While we were familiar with making these treats, this time we tried a new method using Carnation caramel, dark and milk chocolate, salted pretzels, and shredded wheat. Personally, I prefer making them with cornflakes, but my daughter thoroughly enjoyed this version.
Next on the agenda were the vegan confetti cupcakes, which turned out to be delightful. One aspect I particularly appreciated about the kids’ baking workshop was that all the ingredients were pre-measured and ready for the children to use. While it could have been a valuable learning opportunity for the kids to measure the ingredients themselves, I also understand that it might have been quite chaotic if they had to do so.
Afterward, it was snack time, and we enjoyed a variety of sandwiches, popcorn, juice, and hot drinks. The sandwiches seemed like they might be what they serve during their afternoon tea, and they were really delicious.
Once we finished snacking, we returned to the kitchen to decorate the cupcakes. Again, the kids were provided with everything they needed to create the cutest cupcake designs. We were also given boxes and a bag to take everything home.
The entire experience lasted three hours, and I found it to be well worth the money. From the friendly and helpful chefs to the organization and the tasty snacks, I would rate this as a 10/10 experience.
Yes, you can definitely recreate this experience at home for less money. There are also more affordable kids’ baking workshops available in London. However, treating my daughter to this special experience was something I wanted to do, and I’m glad I did. We both had a wonderful time, and I can see us doing it again in the future. As a parent, I loved watching her learn new skills and make a mess that I didn’t have to clean up myself.
This particular class is designed for kids aged 4-10, but they may offer different age ranges for other workshops. To find out more, you can check their website.
After the class, I received an email asking for feedback, along with a discount code for 10% off our next class. Luckily, I can share this code with you: “COMEBACK10“. Feel free to use it if you decide to book a class with them in the future!
