Are you looking for a way to escape the everyday? Then why not try Wowcher £99 Mystery Holiday? The mystery holiday offers an affordable and exciting opportunity to explore new places without breaking the bank.
We booked our holiday during a special promotion where the cost was only £89 per person. Due to the price being based on two people sharing a room, you will need to purchase two vouchers. There are no child prices. It is the same price for everyone. The fine print won’t be covered by me. Please make sure you read it yourself as there is no going back after you have redeemed your voucher. No refunds will be given!
I went on to Google to see if I could get any money off and found a code to get an extra 10% off so I paid £160.20 in total rather than £178. The code is “EXTRA10.”
Once you’ve booked you’ll receive your Wowcher code and the link to redeem it. It will look something like this.
You fill everything in then you, the draw will take place, then you have to wait for someone at Weekender Breaks to call you and tell you all about your holiday. I had 0 patience and called them a couple of days after the draw took place.
They offered me Verona and a bunch of other cities. I was quite happy with Verona but I didn’t like the look of the hotel and the timing of the flights, so I asked them to look at the other cities, flights and hotels and after an hour of going back and forth I was finally happy with my holiday.
While you’re on the phone make sure you’re also checking the flights and the hotels they’re trying to give you. The first hotel they gave me was 2 hours from the airport. I wasn’t having that. The hotel I eventually chose was 27 minutes away from the airport.
They’re going try their best to try and charge you for extras. Changing the flight times, changing the airport, changing the date etc. Stand your ground! It took me an hour and a bit but I was not about to be charged anymore than £160.20 and I was successful.
The flights
We only bought hand luggage which kept the cost down. I used the same hand luggage I use on our Ryanair flights which you can find here.
If that’s out of stock then you can try this bag.
The hotel
We stayed at Hotel Rincón Sol and it wasn’t bad. Our room was pretty basic and it was a little disappointing that the hotel didn’t have a pool, but I loved that it was right on the beach and it had a great kids playground a short walk away. It’s also very close to the airport which is always a bonus.
Transfers
I used National Express to get to Gatwick which cost me £19.50 one way. I booked through TopCashback to of course get cashback. We got the train back to London from Gatwick and I used my Family and Friends railcard to get the train tickets from £21.15 to £11.95.
I just used Uber in Malaga for the airport transfers.
FYI: You still need to wear a mask on public transport. This wasn’t enforced on the plane or taxi rides but it was on the buses.
What we got up to in Malaga
We didn’t have a plan so we just spent two days eating, walking, going to playgrounds, checking out the beach and shopping.
Highlights
- Seeing Teatro Romano de Málaga.
- Going on a mission to find as many playgrounds as we could.
- Hanging out at The Port of Málaga.
- Little miss was excited to see there was soft play inside Burger King.
It was just nice to get away from London and actually have some sun! I enjoyed not having a plan for once. Sorry that I can’t give any recommendations but it’s nothing a simple Google search can’t fix.
I thought the Wowcher Mystery holiday was great. The whole holiday was perfect with no issues but I’m definitely one of the lucky ones as I’ve seen that other people haven’t had good experiences. I recommend having a search on Twitter and TikTok before you book.
Hi! Loved to read about your experience. When I was reading about they trying to push extra costs I was wondering how can you not pay extra and still change the flights and hotel? Aren’t the charges explained in their fine print so you have to pay it?
