Recently, we visited Dopamine Land in South Kensington, conveniently located just a short walk away from South Kensington station at 85 Old Brompton Road, London, SW7 3LD. While the 11 uniquely designed rooms aim to enhance positive emotions, I must admit that my overall impression was less than enthusiastic.
Perhaps my disappointment was influenced by our recent visits to Bubble Planet in Wembley. Despite the distinct nature of these experiences, they shared similarities, and in comparison, I found Bubble Planet to be far more captivating.
Despite the effort to stimulate happy emotions, I personally didn’t feel any surge of dopamine during our quick walkthrough of the 11 rooms. The experience, though visually interesting, left me somewhat bored. Surprisingly, my daughter enjoyed it, but even she acknowledged that other similar experiences we’ve tried before were superior.
Towards the end of the journey, there are areas for photo opportunities, but the tired aesthetics left me unimpressed. The entire “selfie factory” concept seemed unnecessary, and I couldn’t help feeling like it was a repetitive trend we’ve encountered too often.
Dopamine Land welcomes all ages, but note that pushchairs are not allowed inside. Free pushchair storage is available in the cloakroom, with a £2.50 charge per person for other items.
Tickets start at £11.50 and can be purchased on the Fever app. Personally, I question whether the experience justifies the price, even with a discount. Consider your expectations before deciding to attend.
