Thanks to comparethemarket.com, we had the privilege of a special preview of DreamWorks’ latest installment in the Trolls series, “Trolls Band Together.” The movie was an absolute blast! However, do be aware that this review contains spoilers, so proceed with caution if you’re avoiding them.
Let’s dive in! Poppy and Branch have finally become an official couple, and early in the movie, a surprise unfolds—Branch reveals he has four brothers and used to be part of a band called BroZone before they disbanded. When one of Branch’s brothers is kidnapped by evil sibling pop stars for his musical talents, the adventure kicks into high gear. Poppy and the brothers join forces to rescue him, revealing glimpses of Poppy’s past along the way.
The BBFC has given”Trolls Band Together” a U rating, citing “very mild threat, rude humor, sex references, language.” The rude humor and sex reference (of which I caught only one) were innocent to my seven-year-old and added to the entertainment for us adults.
The line that I did catch was said by Bridget to Gristle Jr. that went something along the lines of, “I didn’t realize we’d both be tied up on our wedding night.” If you’re familiar with the Shrek movies, you’ll recognize that these playful jokes are a recurring theme in DreamWorks films. There’s also a bleeped swear word that had the grown-ups chuckling.
Overall, the movie is a delightful, fun-filled experience with hilarious moments and fantastic music that’ll have you dancing in your seat.
