The new soft play at Brixton Recreation Centre is now open and it’s absolutely awesome! Sessions last for 90 minutes and entry starts from just £4. There are several sessions throughout the day, with the first one starting at 9am and the last one at 4:30pm.
To avoid disappointment, it’s recommended that you pre-book your session on the Active Lambeth website or app. Please make sure you book the “family leisure zone” rather than the old “soft play” as both are still open. If you book and pay for “soft play,” you’ll be paying for the old one. So, to clarify, please remember to book the “family leisure zone.”

Brixton Recreation Centre is conveniently situated opposite Brixton train station and a short walk from the underground (Victoria line). Parking in Brixton can be quite pricey so I always recommend taking public transport. Today I parked on Ferndale Road (bank holiday means free parking yay).
The soft play area is huge, and there’s something for every child to enjoy. The toddler area is lovely and recommended for kids aged 0-4. The bigger soft play frame is suitable for kids aged 5+, but smaller kids are welcome with parental supervision. Additionally, there are ninja warrior-style zones, which are perfect for kids aged 8 and up. Non-slip socks are recommended for this part (my opinion).
There’s also a cafe on-site with various food options available for purchase and there are plenty of tables and chairs available both inside and outside the soft play area.
There are lockers that are currently out of use and there are climbing walls available for an additional cost. The Climbing walls are not yet open but I will update this post as soon as I have more information.
The prices are reasonable, with entry for 1 adult and 1 child under 4 at just £4. For 1 adult and 1 child under 8, entry is £6. For 1 adult and 1 junior aged 8-15, entry is £8. An extra adult supervising a child under 16 can join for just £2. It’s £10 for 16+
Overall, we had a fantastic time at the new soft play area at Brixton Recreation Centre and can’t wait to visit again soon. Don’t forget to book your session on the Active Lambeth website or app!
