Another day, another day trip abroad. This time we went to Germany to check out the brilliant Playmobil Fun Park!
The PLAYMOBIL Fun Park covers 90,000 square meters and has plenty to stimulate every kid’s senses. Active playtime fun – not waiting in lines” is our motto.
Let’s get all the boring travel stuff out the way first.
We got a FREE ride to Victoria coach station using Bolt. If you use our code AUKF2 you can get £10 off your first trip!
We then got the coach to Stansted airport using national express. £16.27 return with a 50% discount I managed to find online! Sadly the discount code has expired.
I booked flights to Nuremberg (nearest airport to Playmobil Fun Park) using Skyscanner. It took me to a website called “Mytrip” which doesn’t have the best reviews but I booked it anyway as it was cheaper than booking directly with Ryanair.
I’m fully vaccinated and little miss is under 12 so we needed no tests. The only thing I need was a FFP2 mask to get on the plane. I was told that Germany was quite strict on people wearing these specific masks but there were plenty of people on our plane wearing different ones.
Always make sure you check the current government guidance before you book a trip.
Due to a 30-minute flight delay, we opted to take a taxi to the fun park to make the most of our time there. Conveniently, the taxi stand was located just outside the airport. Our taxi even had a booster seat for our little one, which was perfect. The fare for the taxi ride was slightly over €35. Using public transportation would have been more economical, of course. The bus fare to the metro station was approximately £2.75. I didn’t catch the exact price of the metro, but it couldn’t have been more than €10. Like the taxi stand, the metro station is easily accessible right outside the airport.
Arriving at Playmobil Fun Park
We were so impressed with everything. No long queue to get in, a quick bag check then we were free to explore the grounds.
Other parts little miss enjoyed
- The sandpits
- The mini paddle boats
- The mermaid kingdom where she got to comb their hair
- The unicorn area where she got to groom their tails.
- The huge Playmobil Knight’s castle
- Noah’s Ark
- The western city
The Indoor Play area
Indoor adventures at the Playmobil Fun Park are just as thrilling as the outdoor areas! Inside, you’ll find exciting slides, a fascinating yet slightly spooky underground mirror maze filled with Playmobil toys galore, and cozy seating for parents to unwind.
Personally, this indoor section was the highlight of my day! I enjoyed watching Little Miss delight in every moment, despite not speaking German. It was heartwarming to see her connect with other children through shared laughter and play.
The food
My Food Experience at Playmobil Fun Park: Great Value and Quality!
I spent around £6.80 on the food you can see pictured below, and I have to say, I found the prices quite reasonable, especially for a theme park. Unlike some other theme parks like Legoland and Chessington, where the food is often subpar, the food here was actually enjoyable!
Besides the outdoor food options, there were also dining choices available inside the indoor play area and just outside of it. Unfortunately, I didn’t get a chance to try those out.
Another pleasant surprise was the accessibility of toilets all over the park, equipped with baby changing facilities. They were clean and well-maintained, with both adult and child-sized toilets available. I even discovered a clever dryer for wet clothes in one of the restrooms, which is a brilliant idea considering the abundance of water play areas in the park.
The price
Children under 3 years old enjoy free admission, but they will need a zero-price ticket for their selected date. Birthday celebrants also receive complimentary entry on their special day upon presenting proof of identity. For those over 3 years old, tickets start at just €13.90, which is incredibly reasonable for the fantastic experience offered at the park.
They have a hotel which we might book for our next visit! You can find more info here.
Our Departure from Playmobil Fun Park and Airport Experience
We left the fun park around 6 pm and reached the airport via public transport just before 7 pm. The security and passport control process was swift and efficient. If you’re feeling hungry before your flight, there’s a small supermarket and a McDonald’s conveniently located before the security checkpoint.
At the airport, there were two small play areas, which though modest in size, delighted Little Miss. Despite a delayed flight, we made it home safely and soundly.
In terms of quality, Playmobil Fun Park stands out as one of the best theme parks we’ve visited. It’s meticulously designed with children’s enjoyment in mind and is impeccably maintained. We’re already looking forward to our next visit!
